GSC at pavilion sucks... no aircon at lobby area. And so cramped when waiting for halls to open... waiting to go up escalator/stairs... clash with ticket queues

GSC cinema quality is good, but their administration is a mess. The movies you see on the website, the Coming Soon ones almost always NEVER get shown, only the blockbuster ones. One instance: GSC said they were showing The Brothers Bloom on their website. When I went all the way to GSC Pavillion on the alleged premiere date they said "No such show." and the ticketing staff looked at me as if I was siao. Naturally I was pissed out of my wits. When I went to TGV KLCC next door they luckily had some screenings of the show. My cinema outing was saved!

So the lesson is: don't trust GSC cinema websites.

I have always prefered GSC. But recently i just tagged along for a few movies with my friends. And they end up getting TGV tickets, first was at Mines TGV. A real dissapointment with low quality sound effects and also the seat is so small/no heatrest type which is same like 10yrs ago. Then another time, it's at TGV Cheras Selatan. Okay, this time the seats are nice and is with head rest. The sound quality is also ok at least no 'broken' or 'burst' sounds. Then again, TGV Sunway.. which looks convincing with it's new looks. The seats are same like TGV mines, and i sat halfway and exited the cinema lol. My butt is numb lol

I'll still prefer GSC in whole although a few GSC are not up to my standards too.

As for me....I still prefer those "independant cinemas" which I used to watch when I as a kid. Those days where u can choose to sit either upstairs or downstairs (upstairs more expensive lar)

This kinda cinema no longer exists liao,it was popular during the 80s till 1994.Even got,u still can find in KL or PJ but only with indian movies.

Nowadays, all cinema is those inside shopping mall type.Which is a strategis place for ppl.

From the poll,I prefer GSC and Cathay.MBO I nvr been there yet la.Maybe can go for a try 1 day? smile.gif

*Independant cinemas = A cinema inside a building, which means tat building is a cinema...not shopping complex. It was a popular from my dad's time till 1994.

It's not about the brand or location ... it's which cinema is new and that will be better sound and quality.

That was what i always thought too until i went over to TGV Sunway. The same 'bursty' sound and short seats (newly wraped)

Added on September 1, 2009, 4:19 pmCathay...? GSC...? TGV...?...MBO...? or Big Cinema...???

b4 i shifted to KL...TGV is my choice...cos my hmtown - Ipoh oni got 2 cinemas...TGV located @ Jusco, Kinta City & GSC located @ Ipoh Parade...i believe most of da Ipoh ppl will choose TGV...although can't say is superb...but 100% sure better than GCS, Ipoh Parade...GSC @ Ipoh Parade really sucks...very old...no improvement at all...like wanna dead liao...but, if during CNY, u can easily get tix over there cos it had been forgotten by ppl dy...hahaha~

when i shifted to kl, during college time ...i still going 2 TGV (1U) cos tat time oni TGV can let u choose seat when u book on9...but horrr...TGV @ 1U got 1 kind of smell...like ppl vomit on da carpet like tat...very disgusting...

*i studied @ Sunway area but i prefer watch movie @ 1U cos i like shopping @ 1U more than Sunway Pyramid tongue.gif

then i started 2 choose GSC (1U oso)...cos it's new...popcorn nice...maggi mashed potato oso yummy...seats r comfy...

now...my choice is Cathay Cineplex Damansara...popcorn @ Cathay is da best lah...seats r comfy...spacious...jz da concession counter a bit "mafan"...nit 2 q 4 pay...then q again 2 collect ur f&b...

*da thing i dun like watch movie @ Cathay...there's nothing 2 shop b4 / after movie...but if dining @ tat area...not bad oso lah...anyway, now i watch every movie tat i wanted 2 watch @ Cathay...unless there's a press screening tat is not at Cathay... smile.gif

MBO & Big Cinema...never go b4...so no comment abt it... tongue.gif

P/S: i think Cathay shud open more outlets @ Klang Valley
