Then you'll be wanting a AM3 mobo. A cheap one would be the AM3 and DDR3 version of the MSI I recommended earlier. It's product tag is 770-C45 (note the absent T). But bear in mind it only has one PCI-e slot so you cant pop in a second card for SLI or CrossFireX in the future. But IMO that isn't really important. Single slot cards can already give you more than stellar performance.

Oh and if a mobo is using DDR2 RAM it cant use DDR3 and vice versa. There are some combo mobos out there that use both, but they are rare at best.

@Above;
Card memory only plays a significant part if you are gaming on high resolutions, think full HD and up. With your current budget, I'd recommend the ATI HD5770 which should be below RM600.

Thanks LokiD! yeap.. i,m not that hardcore.. Single gc already satisfied me..45
so the conclusion is, with RM 1000 i should go with 770-C45, Athlon II X 4 620 and perhaps a new RAM right because I,m using DDR2 right now. so ur recommend RAM for my new spec LokiD? I Hope this new specs give a big improvement though. Just want my sis play the sims 4 smoothly this time rclxms.gif

ps : what do u mean by the absent T. got different mobo with the same name meh?

There are two mobos with almost the same name. The MSI 770-C45 which is an AM3 mobo and uses DDR3 RAM. And the MSI 770T-C45 which is an AM2+ mobo and uses DDR2 RAM. As for the RAM, just pick the cheapest 2x2GB DDR3 kit from either Corsair, Kingston, Mushkin or OCZ.

PSU gigabyte 550w - dont know whether it enough to power up my pc though, sometimes my pc restart itself)
If this is the "Superb" model then the actual power is only 450W... hmm.gif

Gecube Ati 4850
Usually I would recommend 500W for this type of graphics card. wink.gif

and samsung Syncmaster 226BW for monitor
Using widescreen resolution? Now I'm beginning to see why that old Core 2 Duo is becoming inadequate... for Sims 4? Possibly processor bottlenecking the HD4850 card? tongue.gif

I'd go with Loki[D.d.G]'s Athlon II X4 620 with DDR2 motherboard (MSI 770T-C45), re-use the old DDR2 RAM and save some money to get a better PSU. wink.gif

Other alternative.. Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 + GigaByte GA-G41M-ES2L, rest of it goes to better PSU.. laugh.gif

Note: Q8400 has better gaming performance than Athlon II X4 620. Example review here brows.gif

Sorry for being clueless due to no longer updated with latest IT products.
I have rm2.5k max to setup a new rig+nice casing (aiming for CM Storm Scout), not include LCD as i will buy it separately.
Also interested to add on cpu cooler, ram cooler, casing fans as well. Do u think i should topup till 3k to get the best?

Can consider for medium gaming. Basically I will use Intel based rig.
Any recommendation? Thx guys.

Well, I notice that you mentioned this...
QUOTE(bluffy83 @ Nov 22 2009, 05:35 PM)
it doesn,t matter as long as it not exceed rm 1000. i really want to spend this 1000!
That's why I recommended re-using your DDR2 RAMs and save the money for a new PSU... wink.gif

AMD build
- AMD Athlon II X4 620 = 339
- MSI 770T-C45 = 225
- Xigmatek 500W PSU = 220
Total: 784

Intel build (alternative recommendation)
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 = 584
- GigaByte GA-G41M-ES2L = 195 (there are cheaper boards also from MSI, Biostar, etc)
- Xigmatek 500W PSU = 220
Total: 999

Alternatively if you can't find the Xigmatek PSU, alternatives would be CoolerMaster Extreme Power Plus 550W (real power ~ 500W) and Silverstone Strider 500W (highly recommended, tests shows it can deliver up to almost 600W!). Take your pick.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Go for RM3K. cool2.gif Try...

Intel Core i5 750 = 700
ASUS P7P55-M = 395
OCZ GOLD 4GB DDR3-1333 = 370
HIS HD5770 1GB GDDR5 = 594
LiteOn SATA DVD = 79
Western Digital 320GB SATA HDD - RM139
Silvertstone Strider 500W PSU = 289
CoolerMaster Storm Scout casing - 339
CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 = 79

Total: RM2984

I think the above specifications is way higher than medium gaming... brows.gif

IMHO (your prefered) casing takes up quite a bit of the budget (money saved can be used to get better stuff - bigger cooler, motherboard with CrossFireX and/or SLI support, higher wattage PSU, faster GPU, etc). hmm.gif
