i am a 2006 STPM batch.i got UMS for sarjana muda sains pertanian major in Pengeluaran tanaman.what the heck???never heard of it also.i dun mind going sabah but i dun want that course.pls help me.any advice from seniors of UMS about it??i heard poeple saying in this forum UMS ranked the lowest for ipta in malaysia.is it possible to change the course??my course is 4 years.there is no information regarding the course on the website.

i think better i go UTAR take biomedical science.it is just 3 years.but need to wait january next year.possible to get in may intake??but i heard UTAR gonna shift to kampar next year.i wanna get the PJ campus leh.so how??

I am happy to say i manage to change course to biotechnology.i remembered i started this thread to ask about my old course.but still 4 years la since i wasted 1 year in SPL.

Transportation:

Every kg got bus.dun worry.but kg E have more.around 6 busses last time.dunno whether they got add or not.other kg is around 3 busses.Wake up early and wait for the bus at 7am before the long line start.A lot of people will start to come 7.30am.dun get shocked sometimes they use KK bus to bring student to classes.It happened to kg E for 1 semester.

Food:

The best cafetaria is KG E.Especially Tiara Cafe.Always a lot of people during lunch but they have less food for dinner.Kg CD is still ok but i heard kg AB cafe is the worst.The price is RM3.50 for 1 rice+1 vegetable+1 meat

Clothes:
Wear formal only on Monday,Wednesday and Thursday.Actually even if you dun wear it on those days its ok but cannot enter library.So if u wanna use library make sure wear formal on those days and wear name tag to enter.Or else they will not allow you.

MSM Guides:

Busses will be waiting at terminal 1 and terminal 2 airport.Just follow the busses to reach ur kolej kediaman.Register there and take the things that they gave you for MSM.It would be name tag,topi,umbrella,batik and t-shirt.Normally you would get large size as my time it was all XXX size.

They will ask you to walk to Dewan Canselor.But at night busses will be provided.Actually you can skip the kuliah moral and they would not know.i was stupid for attending everyday.but i realized my other friends didn't go and no action was taken on them either.

i got UMS as well... the course given is international marketing... for the registration and orientation, i'll do it in KK campus... after that will moved to labuan campus...

i heard there's quite a number of science stream students in my school got UMS... one of my friend who is a girl got forestry and my friend's bf got math & economy. both of them are going. the other one got biologi pemuliharaan and she's not sure if going yet.

i have quite a number of frens in ums. n ya, they got courses like perhutanan, serat kayu (don ask me), and other courses sewaktu dengannya. IMHO, it is relatively easier to change course in ums compared to other unis like um ukm usm, provided u have the pointer n co-curriculum to deserve the course u wanted. so Q is -- which course do u want? is ur pointer enough to ask for it?

i am happy to report i have frens who changed to their 1st choices in ums within weeks. however u shud know how to get around in order to change courses, coz there will be a whole herd of them wanting to change course (coz ums is full of unheard courses such as 'serat kayu')

my fren changed her course coz she had connections with some lecturer in ums. my personal advice is -- meet the dean of ur desired course, no one less. it may sound cliche, but the dean is ur best bet if u don have any connections watsoever. make an appointment if the secretary deters u n such (mind u, there will be a whole herd wanting to sob & whine to the dean). be firm and make an appointment to meet the dean (they have to, its their job), tell the dean personally why u nid to change courses etc. after tat u'll just have to leave it to god.

Since here's the thread for ipta,i would like to ask bout something here

recently i've just received a letter from ptptn giving me 1500 loan for ipta expenses...since i got a scholarship already and rejected ipta,
should i reply them anything??
in the letter,it says that i must reply to them if i plan not to take the cheque ...but there's no contact there??
or should i just leave it like tat?

if u don have any other plans in mind (ie. back-up plan? political connections?), i guess tats ur best bet for now however i don guarantee high success rate though, just tat it is possible.

and ya, maybe in ur process of appealing to change course, u may miss the deadline to apply ptptn (since u cant just submit a 'suggested' course n change later on). but paling2 u still can apply next year rite?

you need to return back the cheque they gave.should have the address which you need to send back.last time my sister also sent it back when she decided of taking form 6

i already clicked that one yesterday.my friends already book ticket on 30th june from KLIA.the price is RM269.99 by air asia.it gonna departures on 30th june 6.50am.mine still considering which airlines.gonna call air asia and singapore airlines(SIA) to know the rates then book.i heard a lot of people going there as well.so better book now or else you wont get it

the kolej kediaman for my friends also same as mine that is Kolej E.but dunno get to be room mates or not.i started to prepare things like searching for a luggage bag,clothes and a new handphone to buy.my laptop from dell gonna arrive early next week
