I'm interested in purchasing an Alienware laptop. Are there any agents in Malaysia selling it? Or can I buy it through their website which would mean getting it from overseas? Thanks. smile.gif

Your best bet is Alienware UK, which is the only branch of AW that delivers to Malaysia... I have to mention though, it's horrendously expensive when converted to MYR (you even have to add up VAT - UK's value added tax - so it's even more expensive then if you buy it in US) and the warranty is worth crap over here... sweat.gif

There's a few threads discussing this, though, search the forum... Or try to contact "derred", a fellow LYN member... He's the one you want to talk to when it comes to Alienware stuff (he owns an M9700)... icon_rolleyes.gif

He's a regular in my XPS M1210 thread (and everywhere else too), so I guess he's easy to search for... icon_rolleyes.gif

Your best bet for a local gaming machine rite now is the Dell Inspirion 9400 series ( + the 7900go) or its REPLACEMENT, due out soon (8 series card, probably the 8800 mobile version or something)... icon_rolleyes.gif

Thanks for the advice guys.. I think I'll have to reconsider getting an Alienware laptop... Any other brands available locally that offer decent gaming laptops that aren't HUGE (like the Dell Inspiron 9400)? I'm currently using Inspiron 6400 with an ATI X1400 Hypermemory and it sucks with games.

Define gaming laptop. If you want something which can handle the latest games at a not so high resolution and at least medium-low settings, anything with a X1600/7600 and above should do fine.

Gamers usually want high resolutions, which means a large screen for comfort, which translates to a huge laptop (google the dell 2010). Gaming laptops are also huge for other reasons; good graphics cards a) take up a lot of space, b) produce a LOT of heat.

hard to get here..
no agents..
if u see their website, only a few countries have them..
gives a nice feeling of exclusivity tho..
unless u have someone overseas to help u, can't get it here..
only 6 countries have alienware..
damn i want one..

Ahh man, you lot should have left the details to derred, he's the only guy I know owning an Alienware around here.

TS, derred should be with you and furnish whatever details you need soon.

And to add my opinion, most of the alienware laptops are overpriced and not worth to get except perhaps the SLi ones, because for the rest, you can look around and get companies that do send their laptops to Malaysia way cheaper from what Alienware offers

Sites to be noted perhaps are:

killernotebooks . com

etc etc, please add more because the one above is the one i can remember right now

Thanks...

I just want a laptop that should be able to handle most new games with average graphics quality.. Not looking for a hardcore gaming laptop nor a heavy giant laptop. I thought of asking around about alienware since their laptops are so cool sweat.gif

nope dell don't carry alienware even though they own alienware. Production/support are from original alienware team. Dell still keep a separate entity for both company. Dell support dell, alienware support alienware, that how it works. But since both are under same company so they can sell/market both product like how they do it in US.

I'm not sure but have you tried Alienware Australia? Just found out from my cousin. Next to getting one from Alienware UK, your closest bet is Alienware Australia.

The price is still rather high due to the GST imposed by the Aussie Gov. The best best to get an Alienware is to register for a mail forwarding site in the US and let them forward the laptop shipment back here.

First of all, to answer ur question, NO there are no official available agents in Malaysia selling alienware laptops. In fact, there are none in the US too. Alienware used to sell at retailers like best buy etc, but now they are only available for order by their official website or phone.

For more information on how to buy from Malaysia, read my previous post about it here: alienware laptops

Do me a favor, read everything I post there first before u come with follow-on questions. U can always ask questions if u still have problem understand anything I wrote.

If u asked me, I would say unless ur getting the only technology that available @ Alienware which are the m9700 and the very-soon-to-come m9750; forget about Alienware. By today's date, m9750 is still hidden from the official notebooks line-up at Alienware-site. The m9750 configuration page has been there since 2 months ago, available up to ordering phase and still on hold for production till now. It is rumored that it got on-hold bcoz they currently trying to combine both previous m9750 tech with Santa Rosa. If ur wondering why the page is hidden, it is rumored that AW is giving spaces and rooms to all those hardcore fans and returning customers of Alienware to get their will-soon-to-be m9750 first. It might be also reserved for all those laptop/pc magazines to review about the m9750.

Check out this Alienware's notebooks lineups here:
Alienware's Notebook

There is no m9750 in the lineup? yup it is hidden. Check this out: Alienware's m9750 (June 12th 2007)

Before i end this, I would like to say to all those Alienware haters scumbags, before u start comdemning on Alienware lappies, do ur research first. Both m9700 and m9750 systems are made by Arima and designed by Alienware themselves. All those Clevos version with some of them available cheaper (I dont care even if it's half-price) at other brands are history lessons for now. They are no longer exist @ Alienware for u guys to cry about. Until now, both m9700 and m9750 platforms are available by the only US manufacturer which is Alienware Corp. All credits to Arima, the m9700 platform is renowned by its stability and good heat-management even tho it's the pioneer of its kind. Yes, i can see some of u guys start googling to see if im wrong, that's right go do ur research now u losers.

Note: the last paragraph is for AW haters, so no offense for those who are not.
