Just to add.....

If your 360 has been dormant for some time and then you do the x-clamp replacement, you might get freezes and hangs the first time you play games.

Solution : Leave the 360 on overnight. Then the next day turn it off and let it cool down for 30 minutes. Turn it back on and enjoy.

laugh.gif this works .. Really.

by leaving the mobo running all day long the motherboard will try to "flex" back

so once you turn off.. it might work smile.gif

some work on my units... but not all la. laugh.gif

Mine was 'dormant' for quite awhile too.

I guess I was lucky I didn't have to leave it on overnight.

I suppose it's either as Djinn says, the motherboard flexes back, or it's a longer, slower and stretched version of the overheating 2rol trick.

as mentioned numerous times, irregardless of whether you put your console in a vertical or horizontal position, you are still prone to the 3ROL.

It will strike without bias.

However, it can be argued that if you put your console in a horizontal (flat) position, the weight of the heatsinks will be evenly distributed on the motherboard compared to it being vertical.

But this hasn't been proven to have any relation to the 3ROL.

the whole point of the x-clamp solution, is to replace the x-clamp.

it is highly recommended to use the screws and washers specified, otherwise it'll be difficult to tell if the console is fixable or not.
