While the Indonesians fought like lions, we went down tamely like kittens. This is the same Indonesian team we beat 2-1 in a packed Gelora Senayan Stadium in December 2004. That time, Liew Kit Kong scored both goals in a very impressive win. What ever happened to Kit Kong anyway? Fast forward 2 over years and we are getting trounced by teams we used to draw or lose to narrowly. 5-1 and 5-0? In 2 years, our national team has only won 3 matches. Wins over MyTeam, Cambodia and the Philippines aren't exactly anything to shout about given that two of those countries don't even have a professional league, and who fielded a bunch of part-timers. I liken this to the Arcadians who sent farmers, potters and blacksmith's to war against the Persians. We on the other hand were Spartans, seasoned warriors. In this case however, the Arcadians triumphed over the Spartans. Maybe we should go back in time to when our league was still in it's semi professional stage.

The future is indeed bleak, really bleak. In Malaysia, it is common to hear people pointing fingers at one another, and it is no different with our football team. Norizan says the other teams are superior, why is this so? How can he adopt such a mentality? We should be going toe to toe with them and not admiring them. When we scored 1 against China after going 5-0 down, the players celebrated as though we had just scored the winning goal. How sad is that? It's not like we scored against Brazil or Argentina. In just 2 years, our world ranking has dropped 40 places! 40! Here's a reality check. We used to stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan and Iran. Then came a slight decline and we had to be content with being mentioned in the same breath as Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Where the heck are we now? We now struggle against sides like Philippines, Sri Langka and Laos. How much lower to you reckon we'll sink an another 2 years?

At current, there are 196 countries in the world (http://geography.about.com/cs/countries/a/numbercountries.htm). We are now ranked 149. We dropped 40 places in 2 years. Assuming that will be the trend, we'll rank 189 by 2009. By 2010, we will officially be the worst team in the world. Come one lads, Malaysia boleh! It is an easier target to aim for.

Dude, we're already the worst professional team in the world. Others below us just play football for fun during weekends. That has already make us the worst footballing nation in the world.

today china vs iran game will be very exciting, i bet the malaysian players mati-mati pun mau iran win it, so that they will ease up abit in their final game since they secure their quarterfinal place.

if its a draw or lost, then the malaysian is in real nightmare! rclxms.gif i rasa they will become harimau tanpa taring & belang

i agree with you on that. nod.gif

we are just, i dunno what to say already, in shambles. It will take years of the reformation of the FAM and and years more to get to the place we used to sit.... yawn.gif

i think all the "supporters" should just stay at home watch the live coverage on tv better, keep the stadium empty to show protest

Surely after this cup FIFA if not AFC will take actions against FAM. It's an embarrassment to world football as general.

@aiyish....talking bout the keeper...he really does look like jamie fox...aiya giv him a chance la....represent msia in hollywood...now represent in football...i think its the fatigue issue here,....tongue.gif

@duke....im wondering bout liew kitkong oso....dunno why hes not selected....i think hes playing for n9 now...i think FAM & msian national team now is like an old tiger....cancer laden....need 2 be culled....then invest some money buy a new cub from sumwhere or clone 1.....then wait 20 years......n well get better,....i cant see anyway to improve our football besides this way...too chronic...

okay dis might stirr sth here.....but i was hoping that msia can beat iran.....given iran schmacked china's yellow ass back to tiongsan....then if msia win iran on last match....then we can really live up to the name 'group of death'.....

reality check....erm...we get whipped 5-0...by iran reserves....

change FAM management oso hav 2 wait...coz the prospective players now r all but rubbish...have to wait for newer generation ie the primary school kids to enrol in some program n hopefully they will fare better....

I wonder if Hitz.FM will still air their "Support your local football team" community message/advertisement after this incident.

Have they been airing it the past few days by the way?

Does it matter ranking 13x or 14x, with these kind of performances & results? I feel so sorry for the fans in the stadium for what they had to endure.
