bryanyz, is your iMac still under warranty? if it is, send it for repair, DO NOT attempt to repair it yourself.

you might accidentally void your warranty...

I face the same problem with my eMac exactly like this. Actually, Mac has its own tendency to shut down itself if the heat is so unresistable. Wait for a while. For me... it doesnt take long time. Wait till the next day... its fine and OK until today. BTW, its happen almost 2 years ago.

I did some vacuming though.. and its effective. But if the problem persist even after a few days.. better check. As for me, I did sent it for repair... but after the first try switch it on at the shop... wiolaaa.... no problem.... rclxms.gif Funny ek... but its true. I do believe its heat problem.

I just facing this today also! My Core 2 Duo iMac suddenly turn off when i listen iTunes just 15Min..... when i turn it on again , the status light keep blinking! After 15Min, i try to turn it on, it's fine and i switch to XP , play NFS Carbon about 20Min, It go off again, and the status light keep blinking!

I was get shock , what problems izzit? just 2 months using? I suspect RAM problem, So i open the ram slot, when i take off the ram cover , 2 ram drop out from there ! OMg.... the ram already lose and trying to came out , lol..... I fix it back and close it back, it's fine and stable now .

izzit your iMac maybe ram problems?

I think you should remind them to consult you before replacing anything.
