Going to buy my lens soon, i jus wonder what do we usually check when buying a lens. By the way, what is the meaning of back focus?

i think first of all, should be if the lense fit to ur camera or not...

bring a torchlight, shine through the lens and look for bubble, dusts, haze, and all kinds of craps.

if the shop allow you to hand pick them, then have have teting for front/back focusing at the shop laugh.gif

Hahahaha ... not funny man, it happened before. Story of this Caucasian guy that bought a used lens from a shop and becoz he was too caught up with talking to the sales girl, swiped his card, bought the lens and went all the way back to his home country and found out that his new Sigma tele could not fit his D100 becoz he bought Canon mount one! shakehead.gif

it's caused of all those lense for for dif mount....confused also...this is what i mean by tat...and as ac98 points out also..
No point getting a lense that ur camera cant fit rite?

Bring something to shoot that you feel it will please you in terms of detail , color and sharpness. Can be a soft toy, gundams or some sort of object. if better, something that relates to what you intend to shoot.
