actually since they( hosting company ) allow u to use TF then it's already a blessing lo, just write a simple script to encode the files that u download la, but that'll add load to the hosting server, dunno they let or not la, secure the TF page by using https, access by certs only and only allow those subscriber to ge the certs. i dunno if it's legal or not la k ? it's up to you to decide, and if u know linux u should be able to add the encoding script easily, i'm using my own modified TF hosted on my own server at my CC also using those methods. just giving u ideas, it's up to implement it la

yea..thinking of doing that..but the problem is..its the file which is stored on the server itself...if you encode also...it is still stored on the server

You *could* install a https based proxy in it, and run the torrent client over https mode.

Just some questions...
We tried offering a TF service for a while and although we managed to reach 9 megabytes a second download from our server on a single torrent, the connection via http or ftp to our users was less than optimal requiring heavy multiparting (like up to 8 multiparts). That along with ascii's point that the file is STORED on the server makes it a legal minefield. How are you getting around both these problems? It seems the only benefit of TF is the ability to seed back. |

Simple, they act like the hosts in the matter and delete copyrighted material when requested. Also, hosting in countries that do not care about copyrighted material is a big bonus as well.

It seems the only benefit of TF is the ability to seed back. Random file names and user-only decryptable. Requires some PHP knowledge to implement. Pro - More or less undetectable by host Cons: - Increased CPU usage for encoding/decoding files - Only HTTP download as FTP can only dl the encrypted files Speed issues: As I run a flux service provider myself I won't be too specific but it has something to do with the total amount of traffic on the server, as well as how fast the server can handle net connections. You might want to look into traffic shaping. This post has been edited by Diligent Sloth: Apr 13 2007, 01:38 PM |
