Why quadro GC far expensive than normal GC??

Added on March 28, 2007, 8:57 pm
QUOTE(darnell @ Mar 26 2007, 11:03 AM)
I search in google, then i found people do it this way

''Install Riva Tuner, customize the "low level system settings" and change the "Graphics adapter identification" from "determined by hardware" to "Quadro." Then check the "Allow enabling hardware masked units" box and also "Unlock professional capabilities."

but i dont know it really can use or not.
better ask Zinxdesign . tongue.gif

will this effect my GC???Like we're Oc or sumthing???

FireGL series is classified as workstation graphic card mah, so still counted tongue.gif

As for why workstation GC are more expensive, my thinking is
1) The drivers need to be specially written and tested to be working with most of the certified graphics software, therefore higher cost of development
2) I think these cards go thru more thorough tests in the factory (as compared to normal mass produced graphic cards) to confirm functions ok, so higher costs of operation?

And why most pple say they are not good for games (although they can be used for gaming) is becos the drivers are optimised to render accurately, while gaming card drivers are optimised to render as fast as possible. Therefore, doesn't mean that workstation cards are better for games.

hi, if i've a choice between quadro fx 1500 and fx 3400. by looking at it, the fx 3400 is classed at higher range, and more expensive. but by looking at the performance info, fx 1500 is actually faster and better because it is built with newer hardware and fx 3400 is a much more older product than it. so, is this true or is fx 3400 worth the money? I'm quite confused actually. even the fx 3450 is slower or on par with FX 1500 by looking the at benchmark info?? so, which one is worth buying actually. i'm really confused here, but i really need a quadro for my cad and 3d modeling.

FX3400 is RM2500, FX1500 is RM1800 inclusive shipping, this is the cheapest I found from US order, I don't want to quote Low Yat pricing as those are just insanely overpriced, I'm not sure what on earth is wrong with workstation market in Malaysia???

but by reading the benchmark and hardware info, the FX1500 just seems performing even better than the fx3400 and FX3450, I'm just very curious there must be a reason why FX3400 and FX3450 are classed as higher end range and are priced higher, I just cound't find the answer myself.

Added on March 30, 2007, 4:20 pmanyhow, I'm getting the FX 3400 as for RM1600, it is really well worth buying it, and it is within my budget.

I almost bought the fx3400 for rm1600, but I'm goin for the fx1500 as i've been struggling to search for info whether it is stil worth buying an old fx3400 even though it is classed as high end range over the medium range fx1500. there are scarce info to compare in the web, but still, through many readings and searching, i don't think fx3400 will perform better than the fx1500. unless for the newer fx3450. so, i'm goin for a fx 1500!
