LUMUT: The Royal Malaysian Navy's KD Jebat warship caught fire early Friday morning.
A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a call at 3.15am on the fire on board the Lekiu-type guided missile frigate, which was docked at the naval base here.
"When we arrived, we found that the officers' mess hall was on fire," he said in a statement.
The operation to put out the blaze is ongoing.
There is no indication as to what started the fire.
The 106m-long ship was launched in May 1995 and commissioned in November 1999.
It has taken part in various naval exercises.
It was also showcased during the 14th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (Lima 2017) in March.
