Using X-fi + Z680 speaker. How come no sound from the center speaker? Only when i change to DTS mode then only got sound from the center speaker. I tested with DTS audio file, all got sound but not the center speaker . Is it a known issue, cause i see many complaining about it in the creative forum

Check the speaker settings via the console, sometimes when you play certain games the settings may accidentally tweak from a 5.1 to 2.1 .

If that's not the case, I am not too sure myself.

I have SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtreme Music with a Logitech Z5500 speakers.

Cheers

guys...do you turn on your 24bit crystalizer?

I just changed my speakers to AegoM and crystalizer is just too harsh, even on minimum settings. High and low really are too exaggerated, especially the high, till ear piercing...

now i turn it off..but it's not as punchy as b4...sad.gif

mmm...not sure bout that...the old ones doesn't have heatsink. the new ones do. Old one more energy efficient and produce less heat?

anyway, i just read a few days ago, newer x-fi, they reduced the problems with clipping, cracking sound.

That just pure sarcasm, if you can't catch it. Obviously no one overclock their soundcard. And your comment doesn't make sense, whatever the memory chip that used in soundcard will make ZERO difference in audio quality

ya i turned off crystalizer completely. I think if you have good speakers, crystalizer just makes the sound even worse..

now, my music sounds warmer and more realistic without the occasional ear piercing sound and exaggerated lows.

just depends on the speaker used...below i do a simple test by using RMAA 6.0.6 to compare the Crystallizer function and the EQ and Bass/Treble knob...

1. Frequency Respond Curve between Crystalizer, EQ and Bass/Treble knob...
Attached Image

EQ setting to simulate 50% crystalizer level
Attached Image Attached Image

Bass 60%/Treble 58% to simulate 50% crystalizer level
Attached Image

So, crystalizer is just the function that can simply simulated by using EQ and Bass/Treble knob...

I also being sarcasm also........im not that stupid that OC the soundcard can gain quality in sound........
Read between the lines.........and if you dont like my comment........just don't read it...... biggrin.gif

I turn off crystalizer if i listening to the music..........and because of my loudspeaker consider old and maybe have lousy drive in it.......even i set it to full it does not produce any distortion.........wait for my speaker kong then consider to change the loudspeaker......maybe Edifier s5.1 mk2...... drool.gif

Actually lost data can't be restored anymore, crystalizer restore compress audio back to audio cd quality is just a commercial slogan by Creative, crystalizer boost the low and high frequncies and pull down the mid range as the graph before, thats why the "dynamic range" seems like boosted also...nevertheless, crystalizer still is a good feature that suitable for the user who don't want to mess around with the EQ parameter, for the user who no need EQ, they won't need the crytalizer also... rolleyes.gif

I read reviews that Crystallizer works better on the Prelude than on Creative own X-Fi
