The War-A Yellow Perspective

The year was 2007 and somewhere in the Isi Rimba jungle of Kuala Lumpur, two armies of 115(Red) and 116(Yellow) met, oblivious to the fact that the years of war has long been over for peaceful old Malaysia.

Men from both armies were busy readying themselves for battle since 0800 hour with troops from Penang even camping at the site the night prior.
In line with the Malaysian culture...we were late even in war.The war was declared at 1115 hour ,one hour and 15 minutes late.

After a false start to a failed 1100 hour start...even the base of the Red army was adjusted due to the steepness of their hill, which their generals and the war committee members deemed unsafe for a quick descend.

By then the Yellows had already charged and had to be recalled for a restart. There was chaos...the Reds had to reorganise themselves to their new base for the start and before you know it...1115 hit...and the war had started.

The roar of the advancing armies were really loud and sent a booming sound that could be heard all the way out at the ammo depot which was a fair distance away...

The Yellow's plan was to have the Penang Company led by Gen.Dennis and Captain Harris man the defense and to be the back up squads of the frontline. This company is 40 strong and locked unto the hill where the Yellow's base is.

The Xtion Company which comprised of the Xtion platoon, the Demonz platoon and the Killerz platoon were made responsible to break through and capture grounds...

To be specific...the Xtion platoon to go up the left from the Yellow base to take the left flank, the marauding Demonz to drive right up the middle to retrieve the mission boxes and the Killerz up from the right down the right flank.

The Xtion platoon was lead by the aggressive Liutenant Gary and is accompanied by Captain Redz.In this unit were the Squad Napshot(Sargeant Nick) ,Squad Tigerz and special sniper private AllanP.This unit is about 23 strong

The Marauding Demonz that lacked communications equipment were tasked to move up the middle and kill all and retrieve the critical mission boxes there. Led by the solid Liutenant Ah Fai and General Patrick himself as their mission is critical. This unit is about 28 strong.

The Killerz platoon were tasked to strategically move up the right to squeeze the Reds into the middle and outflank them from there.Led by their ice cool Liutenant Iced. This unit is about 25 strong.

Shortly after the start...the Yellows were already taking fire from the Reds as they had reached our half of the second hill as our frontline troops had only made it to the bottom of the hill where our base is located to ascend unto the 2nd hill.Gunfire rained down on our attackers while our defence pounded back the 2nd hill with intense fire.We thought half the Reds were already on the hill.Later we knew that the heroic General Roselan and Captain Eric were the brave Reds that got there with about 10 Isi Rimba men and that the bulk of the Reds were still back in the ravine between their own hill and the 2nd hill awaiting instructions to move forward.

The Demonz Platoon was forced to the left by the gunfire and had to track behind the Xtion platoon who were themselves rattled as the platoon had lots of newbies...The push had to continue though and the Xtion guys pushed their men forward with the Demonz regathering and going up behind them. The left flank was actually held up quite a while by 2 snipers stationed there by the Reds.

The Killerz had also decided to push ahead as most of the fire they were taking were mostly coming from the middle...while moving across...catastrophe struck..an entire squad of Killerz were taken out.The Penang Company who were engaging heavily...mistook them for the Reds and took them out..

Slowly but surely the numbers started to tell and the 2 snipers on the left were eliminated allowing the Xtion platoon to take the left of the 2nd hill. The Demonz platoon have now got a path through and got into their stride once on the left of the 2nd hill.2 squads surged into the middle of the 2nd hill to take out the brave Reds holed up there.General Roselan and Captain Eric perished there with their troops.General Patrick jubilantly recovered the mission box which gave the yellows the chemical bomb. The recovery took it's toll though and it proved to be the general's last act prior to the truce as he was physically drained by the effort.

Unfortunately for Gen.Paul(me) who was chilling out with another Demonz squad behind the left flank...he had passed the box to Liutenant Ah Fai who could only pass the box to me before he also went down on the ground with exhaustion. As the box can only be carried by higher ranked officers...I had to carry it uphill back to the base...which also proved to be my last act prior to the truce..

With the seniors out of commission after the assault...2 squads of junior Demonz were moved into position to hold the middle section of the 2nd hill.

The Killerz, in the meantime, had moved deep into the right of the 2nd hill and were responsible for pounding the Reds attackers into defeat from there.Economical on their air and paint consumption...it was going to take an army to oust them from there.

Our frontline guys were exhausted from their push and some were low on air and ammunition.Their numbers were also down due to the eliminations by the Reds.

After the 2nd hill was mainly taken by the us,the Reds started to push forward.A little late but a push nevertheless. Our troops up there was also unable to secure the hill properly due to the existence of the Red snipers who were quite effective in slowing the advance.

The Reds were surging forward in small numbers and in moves not quite coordinated with their other units. They lost a lot of men but our guys on the hill were going down in numbers too..things were looking critical and a major push by them could just push us back down the hill.Men shot at this point would have no time to rejoin the battle as the frontline is already far from our base and hence the hospital.

The generals were frantically trying to reach the Penang Company to get them up there to reinforce the 2nd hill.News were drifting in of squads of Reds pushing up strongly on our left.Captain Redz and Liutenant Gary have also been killed up there in these battles.

The flank is now in the hands of sargeants and the remaining soldiers who were mainly the Tigerz who had been fighting bravely out there. The Napshot squad...with the exception of Sargeant Nick has long been eliminated and resting at the ammo depot(We found out during the truce)

Facing low batt. walkie talkie problems,General Dennis and Captain Harris left the Yellow base to seek out their troops to send them up the hill.Gen.Patrick and Paul proceeded back to the ammo depot for rest while General TI manned the base and coordinated the squads on his own....great work by him.

There was heavy gunfire up on hill 2 and at this point,we had a re entry of officers and men from the Xtion and Demonz platoon of about 12 men.Captain Redz,Liutenant Gary and Liutenant Ah Fai picked up the remnants of their troops on the 2nd hill to push forward and recapture the grounds that the Reds had recaptured as well as to secure the left and middle part of hill 2.The right that has been held by the Killerz remained secure all the way up till truce time at 0100.

The Reds had been pushed all the way back into their own ravine and their own hill...

It was noted at this point that many of the men from both sides were really exhausted and virtually none of the troops that went for additional air and ammo at the ammo depot made it back into action. When I got there at 12.40pm...there were at least 20+ of our frontline troops out there. They just never rejoined after reaching the comforts of the ammo depot where nice cold cokes were available...hahaha

General Anor who did not know that the we were as exhausted as they were tried to call for an agreement to an earlier truce to stave off a major push by us which of course was never planned. In any case...my walkie was off and it was not communicated to us until much later.

At truce time..the yellow troops were more spirited, having superior grounds advantage and the Reds were a little down. The rain started at 0115 and there was an exodus of Reds troops despite the delayed restart to accomodate the rain. The yellows had 20+ guys leave too.Two Generals left and moral was low...many Red troops decided they could not go on...

In the end..there was only 20+ left of the Reds with the full Singapore squad led by Liutenant Ben...who was promoted on the spot,Liutenant Zafry,Cobra Merc squad members and a handfull of brave new faces. These "300" was led by Gen.Roselan.They were committed and were prepared to go down fighting odds of 1 to 5 as most of the Yellows had stayed on to savour victory.

The war restarted at 0315 at the boundaries where the troops were prior to the truce....nearly a 100 men pushed up the Red's hill to flush out the defenders as well to capture their base for a total annilation. The fight was fierce from the word go and the Yellow stormed in to the Reds ravine ...pass the stream and unto their hill.Troops pounded the hill while fellow troops move forward under their cover. In the meantime...the defenders rained paint back down onto the attackers.

Gen.Roselan threw their chemical bomb which hit a tree and went off short of the Yellow troops. It only slowed the attack a little. The yells by the officers at this point to drive the men forward unto the Reds steep hill can only be described to be like that which we hear in the movies. It is funny but the pack effect sort of drove the men unto a slope which we would not normally attempt...mind you..it was steep and slippery.

The last of the defenders were picked off and at 0345...the war was over. The final hill was taken in 30 minutes even with only 20+ guys defending it....yup...it was a tough terrain...

For me ....it was the greatest game of paintball I have had the pleasure to be part of....it is sort of a full circle for me as I first tried paintball playing in the woods and had imagined being in a big one for a long long time.Just want to thank all of you guys who made it happen.....so many to thank and so many memories...

Hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did...I was in awe at times...cheers to all the pbs!!!!

get an anti-fog solution la... the cheapest so far is the home-made mix - 1 part of a mild detergent (hand-soap, baby shampoo etc..) + 10 parts of H2O*...
u can either wipe it or spray it onto the lense (or maybe ur specs too). as long as the solution is still wet/damn inside, there won't be any fogging..

*free info coz i also got it for free over the net... icon_rolleyes.gif
