All Windows Vista Drivers
Windows Vista Drivers for V3200 series

Drivers for Windows XP Professional x64 is currently not available for this notebook

Windows Vista x86 RTM Installationbeta

Check if you have at least 1GB of RAM

1) Insert the installation DVD
2) Follow thru the menus and select the version that you purchased

Display would look horrible without Aero at first but you have to get the driver from Windows Update.

3) After completing installation, run windows update.
4) Select every Optional & Recommended driver updates. eg, synaptics, hp quick launch, nvidia geforce go, hypertransport, ricoh card reader drivers.
5) Go to Control Panel > Personalization > Windows Color and Appearance, choose the Windows Aero Colour Scheme and click Apply.
6) The End.

notice that the driver installation steps is shorter than Windows XP.

Hardware that will work out of the box with Windows Vista
- Wireless, Bluetooth, Ethernet

thanks, i think 3hrs is quite a nice battery life for this lappy  smile.gif

by the way, i think

SDRAM = Sychronize Dynamic RAM
DDR SDRAM = Double Data Rate Sychronize Dynamic RAM

both is same type of RAM but DDR double old technology bandwidth by twice
correct me if wrong notworthy.gif

Thx your correction bro!! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

hmm.gif hmm.gif I think both intel and amd can use this function. However, amd user can not adjust the cpu voltage. If there is an update for this function i think i can squeeze more battery life for my V3164AU. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Speaking about vista capable notebook, which type of vista is usable ? Asked some friends and they told me that gma 950 not able to support the vista features.

Is the Compaq Presario a vista capable notebook ? if yes, is it a windows aero capable notebook ?

to be correct,if u install windows vista home basic, then u wont get windows aero, unless u install windows vista home premium.

all compaq presario is windows vista capable machine beacause it already meet the windows vista capable requirement(at least 512mb ram) but it does not means that it will got windows aero

I owned 2 compaq lappie...

M2000 - M242xAU
AMD Turion64 - 1.5 years old

Very good all around spec but it have ATI X200 PCI-E with 128MB shared Memory. considering 512 - 128 = +-384MB have to upgrade the memory module to 1gb DDR but not DDR2 - it's power hungry! can standby for 3 hr on battery (while since it AMD...ohh well).

V3000 - V3235TU
Intel Core Duo - 9 months

It;s was ok but the drivers for this model is quite hard to find...jammit!!
HP doesn't list all the drivers need to install! some of it i have to collect from somewhere else although most of HP/Compaq have same hardware - but it seems try & error cost me alot of time in downloading drivers -

take a look here

Hi all..i m new here..

wanted to get a laptop soon..

have few questions in mind...

is the Hp-compaq Presario V3218 using the Centrino Duo Technology ?
becoz some brochures say Centrino Duo, some just stated Intel Pentium Duo Core..what processor this model uses?

and if compared to the AMD model (V3222), which one is a better deal?

how are their battery lifes generally? planned for normal usage..smile.gif

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif

I think dual channel can only work when 2 slots of ram are similar.Eg. 1gb + 1gb or 512mb + 512mb. smile.gif smile.gif correct me if i'm wrong. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

If u want to run vista or gaming better take V3222 come with GF6150(which better than GMA). All u need is upgrade ur RAM to 1 or 1.5 Gb.
