This is due to the fact you bought 3218 with freedos, then install your own windows. The bundle that comes with windows has another bootable partition that runs when you press the quickplay button.

If you install only windows, of course upon pressing the quickplay, the machine cannot boot from the specified partition and loads next bootable partition, which is your windows.

Added on April 16, 2007, 8:36 pmGuys, I found out that the quickplay software (vista version) does not work on win vista. So I installed the xp version on vista, and it works like a charm (v6.10a). Wondering any of you experienced this issue?

this issue was discussed in my previous posting. the media button should load the partition containing the quickplay software. if you don't have it then it will boot windows since its the next bootable partition.

same goes to dell mediaplay.

oh, that. Okay, the quickplay software is the application that you install in windows. Its sort of a launcher when you press the media button. I installed the application and now able to adjust the lcd's brightness and assigned the quickplay button to launch my winamp once pressed. Nifty little app.

If you don't install it, you'll notice an 'unknown device' in your device manager, which is the driver needed for the quickplay button.

How's the performance of the NGO driver? How's the temperature? If all it does is to overclock our video cards, then it will do more harm than good. The lifetime of the laptop will be shorten. Please commnent on that and does anyone else use that driver also? Please share your experience.

Thanks.
