A general question, will a pro photographer says himself a pro ?

I think he will probably answer that he is a full time photographer instead of a pro. Usually most pros I have met, they are very humble in person.

To me a pro photographer is someone who is excellent in certain subject and specialize in that despite his/her knowledge in general photography, no matter he/she is working full time or freelance.

True. None of the pro photographer would say he/herself is a pro photographer but instead, he/she would be more specific in their career addressing like, i am a wedding photographer or i am a wildlife photographer.

There is nothing humble or cocky about acknowledging that one is a professional photographer, unless of course if he isnt one, in that case he's a fraud.
Like I've mentioned people get the definition of 'pro' wrong.

I would like to point out that the word 'pro' used in the thread title is very misleading.
It might be referring to professional, which would mean "engaged in a profession or engaging in as a profession or means of livelihood"

Or it may refer to the slang 'pro', which would mean that the person is very good at the thing he's doing.

And based on most of the posts I see, different people are voting for different things based on what they interpret the word 'pro' as. doh.gif

On the contrary, I would say that a professional photographer would just call himself a (professional) photographer, then further elaborating on his specialised field (i.e wedding, sports, etc..) if the situation demands for it, or as the talk continues.
