Ubuntu 8.04 works like charm on Vostro 1400.
Tri-boot with Vista and Leopard(sound and wifi didn't work).
Thanks.

Depending on your mode of installation. If you are going to use Wubi to install it from within your Windows, then just mount the disc image should be sufficient. But if you want it in a separate partition, you will have to burn it in a disc.

buying Lenovo Thinkpad SL400 last Oct. Running fine with Fedora10 now.
If you want to install older version, please make sure update the kernel to 2.6.27 above.. If not, you will have a hard time for wireless driver (iwl5100)

Ubuntu 8.10 works out of the box for HP Compaq nx6325

But have not fully tested all features. Seems Wifi needs a little bit of tweaking.

All this is made possible by using Wubi and a new 500G HDD! smile.gif

Hi,

I'm looking for a laptop which can support Linux well. I've heard that Asus, IBM and Toshiba are pretty good but I'm looking for comments from people who have tried it already and their experience on using it on their own laptops (not necessarily from the brands that I've mentioned).

Oh, and I'm a Fedora user.

Thanks. smile.gif

actually all new laptop can support linux OS. i'm just running my fedora core 7 in acer aspire 55ooz. It running fun! smile.gif
