those of you who used opensuse, do you feel your laptop is hotter?
I have this "hot" problem.
If i left the power option to Dynamic, normal surfing will cause the system fan start running noisily. I have to set it to Powersave mode, but it is still hot.
BTW I'm using Compiz Fusion with ATI driver. Any thoughts?

I'm using opensuse 10.3 with Compiz Fusion on Nvidia, on a Dell Vostro 1400. The tempreture is normal.
I use it for more than 8 hours a day, but of course in a aircon room.

Try openSUSE 11.0 or Linux Mint Elyssa, both worked well on my Acer Aspire 1692

hi
I'm using ASUS A3a..Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 works fine with my lappy ..
just need to config the headphone jack manually ...by using Kmix..
some more the B'tooth connection doesn't work very well(using external adapter anyway)...thinks ASUS works well well with Ubuntu

I had alot of problems with my Sony Vaio running Hardy Heron.. Bought it a year ago, 1.66ghz C2D with the Intel 3945ABG, wireless and everything works fine (nm-applet) with Hardy but the main problem is with the BIOS that Sony laptops use. There's a bug report somewhere on the Ubuntu bugtracker regarding ACPI issues with Vaio laptops, I can't pull up the link but I remember everyone who had a Vaio (not model specific) were complaining about boot problems. Removing the 'quiet' and 'splash' tags from the GRUB menu would help with the problem but occasionally it would still freeze at boot I experienced it myself too, ACPI would 'timeout' randomly during boot and freeze the whole process.. forcing the user to manually restart the laptop a few times by holding down the power button.
