for rendering, GC and processor also important..
if really concentrate on graphic stuff rather than game, go for Nvidia Quadro FX or ATI FireGL... special for graphic design..

X1600 is just a broad category.. manufacturers can clock them differently. Use DDR2 or DDR3. By the way... X1600 is 128bit.

Santa Rosa launching in mid-May so Nvidia's DX10 lappy part will be out by then.

X1600 HyperMemory is 64bit ...if u can get a X1600 w/o HM then is 128bit ...

means without hypermemory which share amount of memory with RAM.
this happen in most acer X1600 laptop.
(i.e.128/256 dedicated vram, 128/256 from RAM)

~not bad, my 3years-old 9700mobility still fall on 3rd category...

Just for updates, newest and fastest card for now is 2 x 512mb Nvidia Geforce 7950 GO GTX in SLi-enabled by Alienware (another Arima model with the same chassis as the first SLi mobile platform by them)

its available in the US by the only manufacturer Alienware Corp.( yes not even Dell for the moment..). Rumors saying it is upgradeable to dx10 cards later on. The beast is not officially out yet but its available for customize and order by now.

Here is the link for those who want more info : Alienware's Area-51 m9750

the black matte finish is the best,damn.. the single card 512mb 7950gtx almost equal to Aurora m9700's 7900GS's in SLi !!

but SLi still doing better in terms of framerate and 3dmark benchmarks.. in term of multitasking and else of coz is outperform by the m9750 consider its dual-core,dual-GPUs,dual-harddrives.. word.. and when u SLi-ed this thing, of coz it will be the fastest mobile system for now..

For those who think this is not heatwise, im sorry to dissapoint you guys but the truth is its' predecessor is well-made and very well-known for its stability in terms of hardware performance and efficiency. All credits to Arima rclxms.gif

For the battery life, for normal purpose and presume we configure PowerMizer and stuff with a single 7900, u can get a full 2 1/2 hours tops. Hate to say but for gaming with SLi on and everything, u are lucky to get it works for full 1 hour.. u prob get the low-batt warning by the time u turn on the SLi haha..

WildChai it is better for you to keep this thread only with mobile gpu announcement or news. It's fine but as u can see it is more "clean" to keep this thread like that.

latest mobile graphic for now is
GeForce 8700M GT - first full dx10 card for mobile enthusiasts.

When it will be 8800M? Will be sooner...is this the same situation as the last generation card? For the 7600go launch 1st and later the 7900 and so on?

Why didn't the first post be updated?

To answer ur question yes. There were 7600gs back then then came 7800gtx. After that 7900gs and 7900gtx late last year then finally the best of 7xxx series 7950gtx. About 8800M we still dont know when it will comes out. Sooner or later, we just have to wait and see.
