i agree. 4k fr laptop consider a mid range. But i would prefer to have mid range laptop since they are mostly use for conventional purposes and not using mainly for hardcore gaming.

Now here is an interesting question, with Windows Vista out, does it justify to get a costly GPU that supports DX9 only or wait for a GPU that can support DX10.

Considering the capability boosted by DX10, and hearing about what is can do is impressive. The current cards that are on the market, which most or all are DX9 only cannot be brought forward in any way to use DX10 stuff.

I'm sure most GPU suppliers are racing to make cards that support DX10 from "low to high" price cards. As for the mobile section, i'm sure the it will be QUITE some long time before any laptops will be available with DX10 capable...

Tell me its false! its false! i don't want to wait too long for a lappie that can run DX10 games!!! mad.gif

CAD ppl will benefit most based on mobile SLI or crossfire.wat for wan use a laptop for gaming.i burnt my motherboard coz i played maple story too much wif my laptop.cost me 400 bucks to repair it at acer service centre at USJ 3.

btw my laptop is 2 years already:
Pentium M 1.6GHZ(dothan core)
15.4wxga lcd
ati mobility radeon 9700/64mb
60gb 4200rpm IBM Travelstar HDD
1GB Kingston SODIMM DDR333
SoundBlaster Audigy2 (PCMCIA aka Cardbus)
graphic driver:-mobile catalyst 7.2

for NFS carbon, maximum setting for graphics is smooth(512mb ram still laggy during races at times) except shadow details must be set to 'LOW' and anti aliasing 'OFF'.

It wont matter actually as DX9 still manage to work with DX10 stuff. The difference whether you want the new look or simply i can a new physics and graphics representation with DX10 or just running with mainstream DX9.

X1600 is just a broad category.. manufacturers can clock them differently. Use DDR2 or DDR3. By the way... X1600 is 128bit.

You CAN actually run a DX-10 games, at some degrading cost but not much, it's like playing Far Cry on my old (no longer alive) 9200SE. No jerk or what ever, just not smooth enough.
