hmm... a few brand u can go for the router, linksys (expansive but good), netgear and belkin (reasonable price and performance is good)

for me, after testing using usb and pci adapter, i think PCI much more better in signal strength compare to USB adapter, better get the adapter same with the brand of your router, coz the performance tends to be better biggrin.gif

*plays back*

USB = tends to suck up CPU . But if you a have a Core 2 Duo or Quad core...you will not even feel it

PCI = nice , but then you're stucked...you can't really move the thing to get better reception !

if reception is your concern,
u can always buy a better antenna with some..say 1.5m extension cable..
and can move arond a bit..
i bought a 5dBi antenna at Lelong.com for RM90..
yeah, i know..RM90 sweat.gif that's more than the price of the card itself..
but it works (if the your main concern is the reception-- just like me)..

USB is very flexible, u can actually extend the range of ur reception by 15db u know? look at here. u will know what i mean.

just imagine u can get a signal 5km away from ur home. snarfing around with ur DIY antenna to search around ur neighbour's unprotected WIFI (so that u can surf for free icon_idea.gif )

I will actually prefer USB as I will have the freedom to position the adaptor compared to the PCI ones. My CPU is placed on the floor and the PCI card is actually quite low and reception is just average for that.

wifi is standard, regardless u using USB or PCI. unless u saying ur pc dont have enough USB port, or ur PC still using win98, then u better off with PCI.
