If you realize, people bought japanese because its mostly modded, and way cheaper than the US set. Technically, take note of the fact that new games come in all the time and the part where the system needs be updated also. Wrong update means semi bricked hardware.

ok..sounds like a lot of a hassle to buy the japanese version. I guess I'll just go with US version.

last question, just to clear my mind.. if modded US version we can play pirated games and games from other version, if unmodded we just can play US version games and can't play pirated game? Correct me if I'm wrong.

That's correct. And remember a system update may hurt ur Wii.

as long as ur modchip is original and updated to the latest firmware, there shouldnt be any error gua...Unless u wanna use twilight hack (which u hvnt) then u shouldnt upgrade to the latest 3.3U

can i change on-screen language to english on my jap set? games after loading shows english so that is not an issue. but console screen all in jap.

it means u r using a modded japanese region wii console. And sadly, there is no way to change the language there.

Not necessarily. If Nintendo can override the chip, the results become the same. Semi bricked.

May i know whoever own a jp modded wii..
was it hard to understand the japan language in the menu, or are you having any problem to navigate the menu (assuming you dont know japan at all)?

think of this way, jp console is cheaper . with the money saved, you can sign up japanese class

hehe haha! what an answer! seriously though, i would recommend u get a US set unless u only wish to play games. there are so many things u can do with the wii but it is difficult if u dun know japanese!

..so basically almost all us n pal game can play on wii jap(u still need to mod la..).. it just a bit hassle only

the menu is not that hard.. can google to find traslation of it.. after few weeks u will memorize it

thinking of getting a year-old modded wii from friend.. was wondering whether this year-old us wii can play latest games? if cannot , then if i upgrade the wii firmware will help mah?

@ mike: Super Smash Bros. Brawl (SSBB) is a good choice for fun 4-player smashing.

@ dexchan: As newer games are released, newer firmwares will be required too. Nintendo won't stop at this to fight piracy. So this means that all newer games released(next to a big Nintendo game usually) would require newer firmwares.
