Streaming Video,Music & Photos to Wii

There is an alternative to Orb service which streams your media from your home PC to all forms of devices. I have tried albeit rather sucessfully streaming Divx files, photos and mp3 from My PC/Laptop using TVersity program free of the net.TVersity

There is a step by step instruction as to how to view streaming media files on the Wii.One thing to note is that,it requires you to install Wii Internet Channel(Opera based web browser).

The upside of this program is that you use your home network to stream media,wired/wirelessly and if needed from the internet. The great thing is you don't need the internet just to view your own media files.

The downside Opera uses Flash 7,so video quality is of YouTube 400x300 pixels like watching TV/Astro.Unless you have a high performance system as your server and fast LAN/WiFI g! you ram up the resolution:cool2:

QUOTE(Lord_Ashe @ Jun 12 2007, 08:32 AM)
You have to go to the Wii Shop Channel to download it, from your Wii itself. As far as I know, Orb can accept streaming video from your PC, but that's it.

Have Wii moded,US Version, due to tax law in the US credit card transfer is taxable/so a bill has to sent to you. As a result if you wanted to buy Wii points online change your Wii country setting to Brazil.Update the WiiConnect24,agree on the Agreement/Licence and purchace your Wii points using Mastercard Or Visa smile.gif.

Really love surfing using the Wii,will post about compatible wired/wireless keyboard that could be hooked up via Wii USB2.0 ports next.

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, my set can connect to interner already. don't know why but easily connected and without disconnecting streamyx. Thanks to all for your help.

Fuuny thing about my set, initially can't play games and connect to internet, now working flawlessly, guess it need to warm up, hahaha. Also i have upgraded my Wii via internet.

I know can buy Wii point via CC by setting to Brazil, but i just want to know where can buy Wii point here in Malaysia and how much more extra got to pay. Can i also ask my sis in the US to buy Wii points and sent me code like we buy prepaid card here?

Can we play multiplayer games online if the wii (jap ver) is modded?

Also is the RM300 diff between jap and US ver worth it? The shop ppl told me if the game is US ver, then the menu of the game will be in english.

Hi all,

I am TOTALLY NEW to wii or any latest generation consoles. I was doing some window shopping when I noticed the wii being on display and I kinda fell in love with it. Then I decided to check out the xbox360 as well. U know what? I think wii is a cooler console, maybe coz I like the feel of the games. So, I am actually thinking to get one.

It would be helpful if you guys can help me out with these questions since I am totally detached from console gaming since PS1 blush.gif

1) What is the real price of the wii? Why so many variations? If I am not mistaken there are 3 variations correct? I asked around in QueensBay, Penang and I was quoted anywhere between RM 1.1k to RM 1.8k. I think most of them selling the wii sports which is coupled with 4 sports games?

2) Anything I should be aware of? Ori or Jack Sparrow how to differentiate? When you guys mention "modded" what does that mean?

3) How does the wii go online? Access the wifi connection of my home?

4) Does wii support HDMI? Or normal AV cable?

5) Any good sellers in Penang area?

6) What happens if there's a problem with the wii?

All of your views and reply would help me to consider whether to jump back into the console bandwagon. Hope to be another proud wii owner biggrin.gif

1) You can check the price threads here in the Lowyat forums and make comparisons. Usually the Japanese Wii is cheaper than the USA Wii, but I think some games can only work the USA Wii and vice versa. (eg. My Guitar Hero 3 only works for the USA version)

2) Check and make sure the Wii you're buying is called a "Wii" and not a "W", "Vii", or anything like that (though I don't really think there are bootlegs of Wiis so far, but you can't be too sure.). However, there ARE boot-legged versions of Wii's accesories like wiimotes etc. (Eg. http://www.yyjoy.com/html/74/n-318274.html), so be careful and look properly at the packaging. As for games, it's pretty obvious.

A "modded" Wii... Um I'll let someone else explain.

3) Yes, to go online with the Wii, you need a wireless connection. If you don't, you need to buy a Nintendo wifi adapter or something like that.

Hi, just want to ask a question..why is so many people buying Japanese version?but I heard it's hard to get game due to region lock? I'm planning to buy Wii but I'm still confused about the version. Any recommendation? I don't mind paying more as long as I don't get into trouble because I'm not good with technical stuff. Don't want to get tricked by the seller. sad.gif

Buy US version since wii is region lock unless you read japanese.US game is easier to buy than Jap game.
