Simple. For some life doesnt revolve around bittorrenting.
I signed up to a commercial shell and didnt use it for first couple of days - does that make me a spy for an opposing commercial shell company?

If he were to be a spy. Why use *@tm.net email instead of free emails service like hotmail or yahoo. It would be more anonymous for him, am i right?

Perhaps his internet is down or his grandmother is charged to hospital for giving birth. Who knows.

Don't be misunderstanding guys, i didn't say the client is a spy at all. I just want to know if everyone can get email@tm.net.my or not. It might have been blown a bit out of proportion.

probably using sort of proxy server, and directing ur torrent client to 'just using that proxy'. Hence, the client wont mess with streamyx bandwidth.

but the other way around , im not sure. that means, normal connection might creep into vpn connection biggrin.gif . Unless , of course, if the vpn service is ONLY open through the proxy. wink.gif



and about privacy? heck, i dont even know whether Telkom is monitoring me now or not

Last time, I got one friend asking if there is anyway to post political contents in a forum anonymously. Well, using VPN is one way to do that. I've explained VPN at another thread. Let me just rephrase it..

Now, why the term VPN? It's a private network because connection between branch and HQ is hidden from public. It's virtual because the private network is actually hidden from public by making tunnel for themselves using encryption. Not really inaccessible from outside world like dedicated line above. If the tunnel is leaking (or encryption broken), then public can tap their line.

My biggest worry is that even after using a paid VPN my speed will not increase by much as my torrents aren't popular with only about 1-2 seeds & 5-10 peers.

Guinea Pig is the term used for early adopters where the technology/process or whatever is unknown or not fully proven.
Derived from the fact that guinea pigs (amongst other animals) are used in the testing of drugs.

With the vpn service, bt shouldn't be any problems....(i am using one)...
but the concerns are

1. Your connection to the provider (how big is the provider bandwidth?)
2. Your provider to their VPN gateway ?

Please let us know what is the bandwidth....

virtual, i noticed in your screenshot that you can only connect to local peers and not to remote peers. how come your server doesn't have any ports open?

1. The server has burstable 1 gbps fiber-links to their upstream carriers
2. I can only say streamyx connected to the server through cogent network. How fast is their connection i'm not sure.

So far, the highest total bandwidth that we've ever use is a little over 4 Mb/s. We know sooner or later, the bandwidth will be used up. That's why, at the first page, we're saying that we reserve the rights to reject your application to ensure enough bandwidth to everyone.

Are you referring to screenshot at this page? I believe 82.xxx.xxx.xxx is not Malaysian's IP. May be i should capture again and use resolve IP.
