Anyone knows any place to test PSUs before you buy them, really traumatized by my current PSU's noise.

Ok, I gave made amendments from my previous i5 computer.
Thinking abt PSU...
Specs
i5 750 [aiming for 3.2 GHZ OC] [OPTION 1]
2*2 GB DDR 3 Kingston 1333
Gigabyte-p55m-ud2 [waiting for this cheap mobo to release] (CHANGE TO GA-P55A-UD4 for sata usb 3.0)
ATI HD 5850 NO CF FOREVER (CHANGE TO HD 5770)
2 HD [1 SATA 7200 500 GB, 1 IDE 80 GB Maxtor]
1 DVD Burner optical
1 ext HD (LATER ON)

Previously somebody recomended me the Silverstone ST56F that was when I choose HD 5850. But now since I have changed the graphic card to a cheaper, more power efficient model and reviews say HD 5770 is as power efficient as 8800GT rolleyes.gif notworthy.gif at Furmark stress...

PROOF: http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3658&p=13

So, will the Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W work WELL then? OR should I get a different PSU? or can I go cheaper? thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Budget: PLEASE NO MORE THAN RM 300! Try to hit the RM 180-250 section.

PS: I won't upgrade the comp other than the RAM and I WANT THIS PSU TO LAST!

Xigmatek 500W Power Supply for around RM220. It's 80 plus certified to boot. Damn good value IMO.

hello guysi. im in the middle of upgrading my system and now im in the stage of finding a good psu. i am not a hardcore gamer, i dont even have any pc games installed, except that i plan to install one or two games such as PES2010 or any racing game in the future. currently, i have the 9400gt gpu since im not into gaming and i use my pc to upload/download stuff and run my pc 24/7 non-stop other than watch hd movies and tv shows.

i have a budget of about rm300 for my upcoming psu. i have cm extreme in mind but since its short warranty and fairly 50-50 review, i might need to look for other brands. vantec ion2+ modular came into my mind but a friend of mine suggested corsairs tx650w. his reason was that the particular model has a 5 years warranty and a single rail +12v to provide strong, stable power to the system. read a review about it, sounds logical and good but the price is wallet-eating.

can you guys recommend my a few brands of psu with wattage of about 500w to 600w with ample warranty time, lets say 5 years to power my 24/7 rig? maybe i should go for below 500w but im planning to add maybe another hdd or two with some cooling fans and up my gpu next year.

thanks alot.

i think Xigmatek 500W Power Supply is more than enough for you, its true power and 80+ efficiency PSU, in about RM220-230 only

Corsair is a good either but i think its not necessary, since your GC didnt consume much power, why Xigmatek? bang for the buck, and most importantly it suit your budget, but i'm not sure about the warranty, might be 3 years only laugh.gif

Hello everyone~

This is my planning rig
Athlon II 250
MSI 770 C45
Kingston KVR DDR3 1333 2GB
Seagate 500GB 7200 RPM
SAPPHIRE HD4670 512DDR4

I would like to know that which PSU can support this rig? I heard that if PSU noob , when play full load game will auto restart . So right now in my list i consider PowerLogic Futura 220 Casing bundle PSU as this is the cheapest with casing . Any suggestion/advice?

Thanks for your time smile.gif

Those are pretty low profile components. Any PSU above 300W should be able to support it. But for peace of mind, stick with notable brands. Cooler Master's Extreme 390W PSU is good if you are on a tight budget. Else you could consider either Vantec or Xigmatek. Getting a 500W PSU means you wont have to change it when you are upgrading or adding components.
