If MSI get the new models.

Avoid the old model GE60/70 (Fan and heat management problems)

New model GE62/72, PE60/70, GT72 etc (Improved version)

When gaming ramp up the fan speed.

Do regular maintenance and it is good to go.

Gaming temp is around 80 celcius~ (+/-) from maximum operating temperature of 100 celcius.

Read some reviews from notebookcheck website. Click on the pic to see the temps.

Once in a while clean the fan, air vent of dust. Reapply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU. Pretty much it.

Well it depends on which model actually not the brand......
Like my N55 now the speakers produce crackling sound and the sides of notebook chips off....
Certain alphanumeric keys on the keyboard not functioning and power adapter failed few times.... sad.gif

The new GE line from MSI is good. I've been using mine for almost half a year, no over heating issues, can run latest games in tweaked medium settings at 1080P.

However, it can be a pain for you to do normal maintenance. The back plate is terribly hard to remove, you need to be real gentle with it, took me half an hour to even figure out how to remove it properly to clean the fans.

U must remember check aftersales... illegear n dell n hp r known to be better warranty service.. for instance dell hv onsite service Nation wide for all models n illegear hv onsite for klang valley... hp n ThinkPad hv onsite for biz model...

This is important becoz u dun need bullshit urself by the service centre... taiwan brand aftersales sux... or more precisely they bully Malaysian...

N msi y hv heat issues becoz their heat ventilation quite pasar malam... some gaming model only hv single fan (same for asus , acer).. never never get single fan model for gaming... unless u wan fried egg while gaming...

ur budget is over for just DOta2 and multimedia work
get urself a decent laptop with mediocore graphic cards
for dota2 the Geforce GTX860m should be more than enough

screen size:
pick 15.6" for gaming, or if u can afford the cumbersome size then the 17.3" is better
1080p should be okay la, no need 4k display hahaha

for work including medium multimedia usage then i5 or i7 s good enough

my suggestion, get the one with the most value AFTERSALES not during purchase only
Dell, the best service so far.
they come to ur house to do the maintenance work after u request
replace parts for free (not all but limited to some hardware) during warranty period
