QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 27 2015, 10:33 AM) We have no business company (SPAC) also can list, why a football club cannot be listed? SPAC is different, when SPAC lists, they have their target qualifying assets already in mind, these assets will potentially boost their balance sheet, contribute positively to their earnings. SC is very particular about the SPAC listing in Bursa, they are very careful, even if your target qualifying assets are not up to their expectation, they will shoot you down, this morning we just heard about Chemara being rejected, due to lack of IRR of their target assets and lack of management credential. Football nowadays is multi millions/billion business. Even when these SPACs wanna buy the assets, they will have to go to SC like a small boy, mama, can i buy this? You think listing a SPAC is so easy? Back to football, how does a football club makes money? Ticket sales, sales of rights, stadium names, merchandise and the biggest chunk is from sponsorships. Tell me how big the Cardiff FC fan base is? If you wanna compare this with the big boys, they are not comparable. They can generate positive cash flows, have you seen Cardiff financials? I’ve seen it before, but it was few years back. Don’t think they have improve much, but I could be wrong. Just an analogy, will prestigious malls, say pavilion, will they allow pasar malam vendor to do business in their premise? (I’m not saying Cardiff is a pasar malam football club, I’m just saying they might not fulfil the listing requirement, but if they can fulfil, they should be able to list). SC is very particular who can/cannot do business on bursa. (listing) to maintain the standard of the stock exchange. My 2 cents. This post has been edited by tehoice: Jan 27 2015, 11:45 AM |

Most football club that I see are struggling financially. and it is rich man game. It is a place where they spent money. Not earn money.
Only a few club are making money from merchandises. |

So many red chips and SPAC as well as CWs in the last few years. No track record Mesdaq company, some just a few million turnover pa, which many ordinary SME also have one etc. I only know SPAC is definitely way easier, as compared set up a company and actually run it before it can meet listing requirement.
