properbyl 1 gb is temperarily enough for vista serve as document, music, movie. But if u plan to bring .net2005 and sql server 2005 on it, then haha cout yourself, without a 2gb, i dont,t think it can operate at a proper speed.

Programming junk - 8GB [Minimum : 4GB]

I JUST CALL it bloatware. Thanks to TPM and all other new stuff that our processor supports [I am not sure about this , But I heard rumors on this matter..Im not sure] + the OS , it would be impossible for us to install ahem ahem version of Vista [well its possible , but then it would be hard to patch activation + stupid genuine thingy and jack-in-the-box thingy]. First its bloated and then its going to be expensive...Oh yeah , the bugs.....

1gb will be enough for a decent home computer.
.net 2005 and sql 2005 needs more ram offcourse...since the application themselves need more ram.
stop blaming the OS for your problems tongue.gif

i've personally tried vista rc1 with 1gb ram and it runs fine smile.gif btw im using wd raptor so its snappier a little.

definitely not enough shakehead.gif even running xp pro with 1GB, and play oblivion with that, while leaving browser and IM running, occasionally will lag a little

no point to play with vista if u want to stick with 1 GB ram for a while
