Hi,

i'm planing to change my XP to Vista for mine lappie.
Here are my spec.
CPU intel core dual
RAM 1gb
HD 80gb
graphic build in type.

Now i'm worried is later on i will have low hard disk space because Vista consume quite big space and my install drive only 40GB.

Pls advise.

My C: partition is only 25GB thus 40GB should be more than adequate.

as far as i know, Windows (XP and Vista) do not support USB devices as a primary disk, thus u'll not be able to boot from it even though u can install into it

I just run the vista upgrade advisor...
It seems that my in-board GC not compatible and it cannot detect my mobo audio set...
How to solve it?

get a new gc that compatible with vista and a sound card that also compatible with vista. Btw did ya audio set have vista drivers? If got then apply it then go test one more time....lol. If ya mobo bit old then i suggest u change to da new one which have onboard video and audio that support vista. Quite cheap now! The kodi one mobo nowdays almost support vista.

I think I'll give it a go and try to install. See how it goes.
32bit only max 3gb ram. If i wanted to dual channel my ram to 4gb, install 64bit would be better? Difference?

4gb better go for 64bit. if ya proc, mobo , ram & etc. all hytec ones better go for 64bit. If want to list the deferences between 32 and 64 bit then you have to google abit cause lazy for me to write it here. fyi, i'm running on vista 64 bit with 2 gb ram, intel core 2 duo with freq. of 2.13GHz, old nvidia gc 7300 and mobo with 946 intel chipset. Got vista index 4.8.

god, and I hate ignorant people that come in here say "oh vista uses more ram, and I am too retarded to see that the same thing happened during the Windows 98 --> XP days".
New OS will use more RAM, as RAM goes cheaper and cheaper. it's the same with XP when people was appalled it needed 512MB of RAM to run it properly. I still remember people saying "512MB? But windows 98 only needs 64MB to run!". Get it in your head, that's development.
And honestly there is no other OS in the world right now that has better RAM management than Vista and Unix. I don't know about you, but parts per part, a PC using Vista will always have less memory problem with a PC using XP. That's a fact, and you would find the findings true in every review site there is on the internet. Just because you are a noob who don't really know how the underlying of an OS works with memory management does not mean the OS sucks when it needs more RAM
