For those who do not or unable to own credit cards, probably you can try the prepaid Mastercard from Ambank which is called Next-G prepaid Mastercard. It works just like a credit card+debit card. Not so sure using it for online shopping though, but worth a try. You can get them at 7-Eleven outlets at the counter, it cost RM25.0

Yes can be used for online shopping merhants that accepts Mastercard. This card has a card number, and the 4-digit CVV2 number just like any other CC.

Debit card charges? Never really use anyone of them. Never knew.

socratesman, i think if that's the case, i might switch to debit cards. Easier. Reload whenever you need to place a purchase.

For Amazon shipping, is standard shipping good enough or better to upgrade to the "best"? Thanks.

Standard is good enough, i got all my DVDs from Amazon using standard shipping for the past few years. No problem at all. wink.gif
But during year end around Christmas it will take a little longer to deliver.

So far I got these from Amazon yearly... no problem at all thumbup.gif

Doesn't DHL delivery costs like a BOMB? How much is it actually cos some ppl told me that postage can be more than the price of the cd's.
Thanks.

Seriously DHL is not worth it. When I made my first few orders - from .uk and .ca - I decided to go with DHL because I thought I'd rather have the security of it being delivered, takut it disappeared into the local postal system.

In the end, I realized that it was too pricy. For the price I was paying for shipping, could have bought 2x the item sent. Not to mention that even if it does get lost en route Amazon will re-send the item. So far it's only happened once with the .ca order (they re-sent the day after my enquiry). Now I always go with the cheapest (standard) shipping because it always turns up in the end. [Yes, both turned up in the end - they resent via DHL and the standard turned up a few days later]

Expedited is not worth it, it does get to you a little faster but it's maybe 7 - 10 days versus standard's 10 days max.

Standard = $3.99 + $2.49
Expedited = $8.99 + $2.99
DHL = $24.99 + $3.49
[per shipment/order + per item]

The key is definitely to not order a few dozen DVDs at the same time thinking you can save money. You will definitely get hit by customs if they spot the price going over a certain amount or if it's a large box. The best is if they ship it in the foldover envelope type and not the box - it will be much faster also

The beauty of living in Malaysia is that all the DVD players sold here are open region, meaning they can play DVDs from anywhere.

I have great success with Playasia and Yesasia so far. I ordered MGS3:SE, MGS2:Substance, and Sin City 3 disc set and they all arrived perfectly (touch wood), usually a little over a week or maximum two weeks. Cop actually shows that it got here in 3 days but it took the post office a long time to get to my house sometimes.

I ordered Steve Vai Live in Astoria and Apocalypse Now (Special Dossier) from Yesasia and they are really fast. They shipped on Monday and I got it by Friday.

I ordered Reservoir Dogs (2 disc edition) from CDWOW (only RM35!!!) last wednesday. Let's see if it will get here this week.

So far CDWOW prices and selection have been the best for Western DVDs. Play Asia is the best for games, and Yes Asia is great for Asian movies.

I will order Children of Bodom Chaos Ridden Years from CDWOW once my Reservoir Dogs arrived. Free shipping rocks!!!

So guys, I wanna know why some forumers said that their dvds got stucked at the customs? They're originals, why should the dvds get stucked especially if the movies are just normal cinema movies. Any reasons? Our Malaysian customs are daylight robbers, stealing any stuff that they like with the excuse of rampas-ing them? shakehead.gif

No wonder our country's corruption index went down. That's why. whistling.gif

Ok now after getting the kastam letter for the second time I can confirm that ordering box sets will automatically set off the customs to stop your parcel.Amazon must have sent the large box again.Anybody knows what is the rate they are supposed to tax CDs/DVDs?Can they make you pay a ridiculous amount however they like for tax?

EDIT:Is the tax calculation supposed to include the items cost only or the shipping cost as well?
