With the lack of quality in pirated DVDs nowadays, horrible graphic covers, and the censorship of DVDs in Malaysian movie stores, i'll resort getting them via online.

http://www.amazon.com or http://www.amazon.co.uk
Great customer service, hassle free, huge list of DVD titles, basically nearly all movie titles you can get it here. New & Used titles for sale.

*More online store recommendations coming soon. A bit busy lately.

Anyone here buy their DVD from online stores? I thought of Amazon.com but most of their DVDs are in Region 1 format which means it'll only play on certain country DVD players (Anyone tried buying from Amazon?). Care to list down a few reliable online stores?

With the lack of quality in pirated DVDs nowadays, horrible graphic covers, and the censorship of DVDs in Malaysian movie stores, i'll resort getting them via online.

I've bought a few CDs from Amazon. No problems so far.

That's what i thought, or i could just get a multi-regional DVD player.

Nostalgia, are there any problems during shipping?

Order from them 3 times alr and they usually ship the DVDs/CDs in less than 10 days, right into my mailbox. smile.gif

I tried Amazon once and the DVDs got stuck at the custom. In the had to pay extra RM100 to clear them. It was probably my faultlar, should've asked them to issue the DVDs seperately.

How come your DVD got stuck at the custom? Due to PG ratings or has it got to do anything with the censorship board?

I've check out the link you've posted, sadly they do not have a huge base of movies.

No I don't think they will open the package without his presence. If the package is bulky and heavy it is more likely to be caught by the customs.
DVDs from Amazon plays fine on my DVD players.

Ordering DVD online and shiiping it here (esp Amazon) need luck. If you are lucky, it gets through without a hiccup. Else, you will ned up explaining to them on the content of the discs.

Amazon.com
- but if over US$100 Customs will tahan and you have to go get it from KLIA Customs (long long drive and add the tax on top). I bought 3 Gilmore Girls seasons, which isn't anything but it hit over their *eyeing* price. The good thing is that Amazon.com covered for the tax when I wrote to them. Great customer service! Other shipments in all the years previously, no problems - books, cds and DVDs.

Amazon.co.uk
- same - more expensive because of exchange rate

Amazon.ca
- same - but do not ever use the 'standard' shipping (it'll take up to 12 weeks, am waiting for a boxset sent in mid-July .. just because I wanted to test this out)

Yesasia.com
- good, just bought the Il Mare Special Edition set + OST for RM60 total. Very quick delivery. Good for asian movies/shows.

Atlanticdvd.com.au
- good buys sometimes i.e. Farscape S1 - 4 in R4 is loads cheaper than R1 or R2, so I got all.

yesasia, play-asia, sensasian, etc. if u can ask someone to go china shopping, ori dvds there are pretty cheap.

dvdboxoffice is rather expensive. its based in canada so shop there for R1.

u can also look for used dvds or old movies at ebay.

Ordered 3 DVDs and Amazon packed them in a pretty huge box. So kena tahan loh... It's my fault lar basically but I remember last time my dad ordered the Bruce Lee DVD Box Set from CD-Wow and it managed to get through the custom.

Yeah, they do have most of the concert DVDs that I want though.

I don't want to buy it locally because of major censorship issue.

i buy all my fav DVD from Amazon.com. so far i have no problem with quality or shipping. A very satisfy customer.

The best thing about buying from Amazon is its cheaper than our local DVD store. I bought LOTR (extended) at abt RM125 each including shipping. Here you'll have to pay RM179.
