I need some opinions for PerfectDisk, O&O Defrag Pro and Diskeeper.

Please give me a comparison from the LATEST versions of the 3 above. I need opinion from someone who HAS TRIED ALL 3 of them (if possible latest editions, or a few revisions before, please).

My current defragger is Diskeeper, though I am thinking of migrating to PerfectDisk. tongue.gif please persuade me to do so, with proof. Thanks!

Cheers to all!

i tried perfectdisk & diskeeper, both r equally good i would say as normally after defragged with either one, i will analyze using windows default defragger and it shows data are well-defragged on both, the percentage is comparable. however, i chose perfectdisk coz it is much much lesser intergration in windows system files. on the other hand, diskeeper is quite bloated to me and i feel uncomfortable with its "heavy" intergration in windows system & registries.

if i am not mistaken, diskeeper is actually the maker of the original windows defragger...
i using diskeeper now... works very well, set it to defrag during screen savers.. saves a lot of time

Thanks a lot. I did a bit of research before posting the previous post, I got the same answer as yours. So, I wanted assurance that PerfectDisk WILL NOT corrupt my HDD. It is very precious. tongue.gif

Yes. Microsoft bought the "license" to integrate an older version of Diskeeper into its XP Defragger Program.

I don't dare to put my HDD at a risk of total corruption. And, I no longer have time to do software testing and comparison (I used to do that for Security Software Combinations).

Thanks to all the comments. Will be scheduling a migration soon...

Added on September 15, 2007, 5:02 pmMigration complete. PerfectDisk 8 Pro is definitely better than Diskeeper 10 Pro.

There was a catch though, I had to let PD run almost 8 passes before there was almost 0% fragmentation. (In DK, 8 passes wouldn't make a single difference. So, PD 8 passes is worth it tongue.gif)

Cheers to all!

P.S. I am so happy now!!

I have no idea which is the best disk defragment software. I have read CHIP magazine and they review O& O Defrag 8 as the best one with good tuning effect.

hi all, someone recommended jkdefrag @ http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/529531 , the size is only <400kb, yeah, i tested it (gui version), the outcome is promising, after defragged, the fragment is 0 to 1% (analyzed with windows defragger and perfectdisk).

i'm using Power Defragmenter and satisfied with it. it's quite small in
size but i like the fact that it's not bloated and it's free.

I was oo defrag user before but since i found out jkdefrag, i dumped oo defrag and switched to jkdefrag till now..reason is simple..jkdefrag is open source and has more options for defragment method/algorithm that oo defrag has and plus, the program dev is approacable and opened for new ideas and users opinions and critism..the only downside that i see with jkdefrag is that its ugly gui..but that's not the issue here..we're talking about which defragger softwares do its job better..

i'm using d built in disk defragmenter that comes with windows XP. Is it not good? I thought defragmenting means defragmenting,do those third party programs do more?
