go to control panel >network connection>lan properties>tcp/ip properties>
set the ip manually

for this aztech modem,
i think the gateway is 192.168.1.1

so u need to enter the ip address according to this gateway

for example pc 1 u put this ..

ip address:192.168.1.5
subnet mask:255.255.255.0
gateway :192.168.1.1

primary dns:202.188.0.133
secondry dns:202.188.1.5

for another comp..
ip address:192.168.1.7
subnet mask:255.255.255.0
gateway :192.168.1.1

primary dns:202.188.0.133
secondry dns:202.188.1.5
ok?

for example..

then enter the web manegmnet of modem,

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Mozilla firefox. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser.
Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.1.1.
user posted image

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is admin. Click the Log In button to log in to your router.

user posted image

in adsl handshake u choose MMODE
insert your username and password given by your isp,
and after all of this step, remember to save all settings,

at computer that using usb connector, u must install the usb driver, ok??

after finish it will show u like this..

ok ..

I have one question here.Next month I'm going to move to new house which is double storey.I'm planning to get wireless adsl router with built in modem. My router location will be at the living room (ground floor) while my pc will be in the room upstairs (1 floor).

Question is : if i use my pc in the room (closed door) will I still get the connection?

Plan to get D-Link G604T and for the wireless adapter DWL G-122.But the price is RM200++ for the G604T.Might getting cheaper one (around RM100++) as I've seen one before but cannot find in the pricelist (low yat.net).Maybe need to go to the store and ask for it.

i have some questions unsure.gif am really a noob so please dont laugh if they are silly.. here goes:

1. I am looking to buy a wireless router with 4ports. Do the router and the wireless card have to be of the same brand? If not then what are the things I have to look out for when I go lookin for the card?

2. Are wireless cards better or wireless adapters or USB adapters?

3. Are all routers/cards compatible with PC and Mac?

I hope someone could enlighten me blush.gif
Thanks tongue.gif

ALSO... i have read alot of bad comments on aztech so I guess I'm going for D-Link. Any good ones to recommend? Cheap and good... 54mbps will do. I have a friend who might sell me DI-524 or DI-614.. which is better? icon_question.gif

I going to setup a wireless home network for a friend. He got a desktop and a laptop. So, for his desktop, should I go for a USB or a PCI wireless adaptor?

Depends.

Use PCI if it is going to be permanently in the desktop. I understand that the reception is much better than USB.

Use USB if you think that it is going to be plugged into other computers i.e. better mobility because you can just plug it into any other computer.

Well for me I had different experience though. The PCI wireless network card has a lower reception signal compared to a USB but of course there are pros and cons for these two. For the PCI I was getting lower latency compared to the USB but the USB could get better reception and a freedom to position the adaptor as long as the USB cable is able to reach it.

That's true. You can always get a USB extender cable if the location of your PC is "hidden" and hang your USB WiFi around. biggrin.gif
