Hi all gurus and sifus,

I have a little problem, and seeking help here.

Ok, currently, I'm using Linksys WAG200G as modem/router for my 2 PC's connection, one using cable and the other uses wireless.

My standard modem setting is as below;
Encapsulation : RFC2516 PPPoE
Multiplexing : LLC
QoS : UBR
VPI : 0
VCI : 35
DHCP : On
NAT : On
and with streamyx 1mbits package username + password.

with above setting, I got connection to internet, but both of PC's have SAME WAN IP.

What I wanna do, and know, is ;

How to make my 2 PC's have different WAN IP, with just 1 single streamyx account?

I tried configuring the modem in lots of way ..
1.disable DHCP, and then set each PC with manual IP = cannot connect with manual dialer
2.disable DHCP and NAT, and then set each PC with manual IP = cannot connect with manual dialer
3.disable NAT, and then set each PC with manual IP = cannot connect with manual dialer
4.change encapsulation mode to : RFC 1483 Bridged, RFC 1483 Routed, Bridge Mode Only = cannot connect with manual dialer, but in Bridge Mode Only, only 1 PC get connection at one time.
5.change Multiplexing mode to VC (Virtual Circuit) = cannot connect with manual dialer

the error code varies of Code 678, 691 and 692 (Windows XP Pro).

Please assist.
Care to shout me if the above info didn't help.

Thank you.

If you have 1 streamyx 1Mbps package, you only have 1 WAN ip (Dynamic IP) .. using router it will do NAT for you .. translate your private IP (LAN) to public IP (WAN).

You can do this only with business packages. Business packages have 5 WAN IP and all IP is fix (static IP).

hi,
I hv a dlink di-524 wireless router and a billion modem/router.
I've tried setting up it as Billion being the modem and dlink as router/dhcp enable (ppoe always connected and dialing thru dlink). But since i starting to download large amount of files, the setup has become unstable. it keep on disconnection and i cannot resume as the ip is changed everytime it disconnected.

So, i tried a soulution i read a few page before - billion being my modem/router(dhcp/nat enable) and  and dlink as my "wireless switch"(off dhcp/nat).

q, is will it be a problem or is there a better and stable setup?

If you have both router, than disable 1 router and use as a bridge. I think the best way is billion modem/router will have routing protocol enable and D-Link wireless just use as AP only.

Use bridge mode between two wireless router.

Example - Modem router > Wireless router (bridge) Wireless router

Yes sure you can but you need to set the 2nd wireless with different channel. Both wireless set as bridge or AP use only.

Hi,

I am trying to set my home network using Riger DB102 modem and a 5 ports switch with 2 PCs.
Currently my Riger modem is set to Routing mode and the LAN port are connected directly to my Switch. Then the other 2 PCs are connected to the Switch as well, but i couldn't seems to get IP from the modem even though DHCP is enabled.
I tried to manually set both PCs IP address but both also cannot communicate with the modem. Both PCs are able to ping each other from the Switch.
Any idea? Or did I missed out any setting from the Riger modem?

Change your DB102 with modem router or buy new router without modem and plug to DB102.

*

and so on per page 9.

Just to simplifies what I need,
actually, I tried to host a game server (Halo CE).

wanna:
my PC hosting a dedicated server, while my other LAN PC join the server and other internet users also. OR,
my PC host a game server, my other LAN PC can join, so do other users on the internet (viewable on the internet lobby).

condition (on PPPOE):
- When I'm hosting a game, my server WILL NOT BE on the internet lobby server list, and everyone CANNOT see my server, needless to say to join (well, they can join in by typing my WAN IP-if they knew one).
- Instead of showing on internet lobby list, my server is listed on LAN lobby list, and my other in-LAN PC can view and join my game.
- In-game menu, while pressing F1 (Game status), I can clearly see the server's IP, and it's my LAN IP, not WAN.
- But I can join other users game server, meaning my internet is ok (got connection-at least).

condition (on BRIDGE):
- I can host, and my server WILL BE on the internet lobby list (yeah, of course, the WAN handled by Windows, not the Linksys)
- of course, my other PC cannot join playing (no internet-manual dialer is on my PC)

tried :
- single port forward on UDP port 2302 & 2303 = done
- factory default the modem/router, and re-configure the above
- something is not right when I opened open port recog tool, " Active Ports " while hosting a server, the local IP shown was 0.0.0.0 .

Please, others, help.

Or anyone here dedicating a server on Halo CE?

I have a modem with only 1 port but the house has more than 1 pc. What do you suggest that I do so the others can use the internet? Actually there are 2 pc's, including 1 from me, in the house. Is it best to get a switch and share from 1 modem?

ok, lets say i have 2 wireless routers. one is tplink, and another one is belkin. currently the tplink wifi router is working as the modem and wifi ap that provides the internet service to the 3 story house. the belkin wifi router is an extra. and because its a 3 story house and more than 10 ppl would be using the same tplink wifi router, i would like to hook the belkin to the tplink router and make a second ap in the house. which is the best way? thanks!

use a lan cable to connect to your modem router, go to the router page and under wireless-->security, there should be your password you're looking for.

hmm?? which belkin modem router u using? maybe there's a tick box to show characters of the password or something? cuz the belkin router im using now shows the password as it is in the security page. btw are u using wep encryption? the password should be listed on the "key 1, key 2, key 3, key 4,..."

or worse come to worse, u straight away set your new password there lar, easier what?

Hey guys ... i heard that using modem + wireless work.

The is the situation wired modem connect to PC A and PC A plug in Wireless adaptor and then PC B (notebook or psp or others.) can scan that PC A wireless connection then connect it, and then PC B can online also.

Is this situation Possible? Wired Modem + wireLESS Adaptor

wireless adaptor will only receive radio signals, it won't act as a repeater.

actually it can, the most simplest way is set your wireless adaptor as an AP then share your internet connection of your pc A, or you can bridge the lan and wireless connection on pc A. then there you go, PC B can connect wirelessly to PC A while PC A is connected wired to the modem.

added: ah, forgot to say, that depends on the chipset of your wireless adapter too.
