I am new with this kind of stuff... so don't really understand how things going.

But I think I will understand it if I read through all the topic here.

Now... there is one question that I hope someone could answer.

Regarding this Desktop Customization... will it slow down our PC.

Because... if I applied theme on my PC... when I play FEAR or Battlefield 2... it will hang up a lot. I mean laggie.

How about this Windows Customization??

Please anyone enlighten me up... smile.gif

Here's a simple answer for your question.

If your RAM is 1GB or above, then go ahead and make your desktop as beautiful as you want it.

Otherwise, just be happy with how it looks now and be happy that you can play your 3D games without a glitch!

Cheers!

My RAM is 1GB.

Then I guess there won't be a problem like Windows Theme then...

Thanks for your answer...

Unfortunately FEAR and BF2 really stressed out the last juices available on your system. It will fly on 2GB system coupled with top end graphics card, not to mention processing power needed for calculations such as its physics.

well.... if u customize your desktop with out using any software that takes up you RAm n so on i beleive it wont slow down your system.... if u install konfabulator, avedesk, objecy dock ( other docks ), styler toolbar, y'z shadow, some of the stuff from object desktop n glass 2k will make your system suffer if u have insufficient RAM n ur running high end games.... so... do your deskmods with the consideration of pro's n con's

Just incase, some program do not support it,may cause error.Use back the original skin if you scare encountering error.Ram is the most important hardware and a must to upgrade it depends on your usage. But for window xp normal use 512 is enough, where 1gb is for gaming.

I never had fatal error when playing games, but once i installed the themes, i get the first ever fatal error msg, then i tried to close some customization programs, then my game runs smooth and no fatal error anymore.

If u wanna run a highend game, try to close those customization programs, not all but if u can close, just close them, it will at least help.

playing games and modding is not a problem to me. i dedicate 100% to modding. not a fan of game.

imo, turn off watever modding application when you are gaming. nobody's gonna see your desktop when you are gaming right?
