so is there a definite way to determine the geniune ones from the fake ones? I'm looking to pick up a 2gb stick from ebay, they are from HK (OMG the DADDY of all these stuff!) price is around RM100+ to 200 only (ebay mar ) there are many sellers, some have the card rated at 1900mb (closer to 1910), and some are rated at 1960mb. almost all the sellers who are selling the cheaper stuff didn't take picture of the package so it's impossible to tell and I doubt they will provide me one. Those ppl who actually show the boxes, and seems real, charge quite alot and mostly from the states....so macam mana?

get the cheapest 1 possible ?

all memory sticks now come with 5 years warranty..and I believe u can now check with Sony on the origin of the accessories...if it isnt valid, you can retrieve the receipt on the purchase of that memory stick and return to the stop to demand for an original..if by all means the dealer fails to do so, you can have Sony up their arses for legal suit...

what about Sandisk ? How to tell if it is fake?

i remember seeing ori msdp from sony - got this online genuine product check where you can check the serial number for ori product.

bought a second hand psp wif 2gb...and i think the mspd is a fake one. (based on d guide given in this thread) but it might b d 1st batch as it can hold up to 1948mb (two 'iso' oredi inside it when i bought,and consume almost 3/4 of d mspd ). however d receipt show that the original owner bought it for rm600++ 5months ago (not sure whats d price back then?). think he didnt know he's being cheated...coz he told me its ori. what shud i do then? (but i think the mspd working fine...so far~)

i buy 1GB MSPD Sony (ori one, after do the checking)... only at price RM140...

last week bought 1gb MSPD for rm120..fake 1...but buy from friend shop..anything can change more easy..give me 1week 1to1 warntry

This scourge has now extended to Sandisk products as well. I just bought a 4GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo from Ebay (seller is in New York) and it's a real lemon; formatting errors, super slow speeds, dodgy packaging, the whole works. I'm getting a refund, but I just want to warn you guys out there that this problem is now really getting out of hand.

Sandisk_1: Seems legit, rite? From the front, can't really distinguish much but the fake has a lighter colour.


Sandisk_2: The back looks pretty dodgy. What's that logo doing there anyway? Ward off bad luck? LOL!


Sandisk_3: The box is made of thick paper (and NOT the usual materials). It crumples easily and there is no hologram. I didn't take a pic of the original box, but it had a hologram and Photo Marketing's (the local distributor) sticker.


Real_1: The plastic housing seems sturdier and has a darker colour.


Real_2: I blacked out the serial number, in case any LowYater tries to register my card at Sandisk.com!

Any idea where to valify from the serial number that the mspd is genuine or fake one? any official sony website got provide this kind of service?

Brothers and sisters, i was thinking about those fake memory card (low budget). What are their differences other than from original factory and not original factory? I mean in terms of performance wise and quality. Slow a lot or easily spoil? Btw, i talking the M2.
