Hi, l plan to have a wireless communication between my PC and notebook. So do l just buy a PC wireless network card and plug-in to my PC? How about the security? How do my PC and notebook detect each other? throught IP or MAC address. At last, which branch of PC wireless network is better? Please advice me, thank a lot!

Without a Access point, you cannot use Pc to communicate with your notebook directly.

Access Point = Example Wireless Router

yeap dude.. smile.gif u will need an wireless access point or a wireless router to setup a wireless network smile.gif

your pc will need a wifi adapter, can be pci or usb smile.gif
for notebook, it either has a build in one..else ..get an usb or PCMCIA smile.gif

for security sake, u can always set MAC Address Authentication smile.gif this limits the unauthorised users from coming in.

the last Q of yours is a bit vague....what branch do u mean? brand? or protocol?

You can commuinicate between PC and notebook wireless-ly even though you do not have any access point. About the security almost ALL wifi card today supports WEP (Wireless Encryption Protocol) for 64bit and 128bit some card even supports 256bit.
