How do you write "Yosh!" in Japanese?

I am translating a Peter and Jane book to improve my Japanese now, during my school break. I think it's a good way to learn because Peter and Jane books has simple sentences and repetitive usage of words. I hope by uploading it here, it will help others learn new Japanese words and grammar and also some senpai-s may be able to spot mistakes for me. I'll upload 1 or 2 pages daily depending on how hardworking I am. Do use http://nihongo.j-talk.com/parser/ if you can't read the kanji. I've changed Peter's name to 憲次 for the Japanese text.

Peter is in bed
憲次はまだ眠っている
kenji wa mada nemutte iru

Mum comes in to make him get up.
お母さんは憲次を起こしに部屋に入った
okaasan wa kenji wo okoshi ni heya ni haitta

”come on" she says "please get up Peter"
「憲次！さあ、速く起きてください」といった
' kenji! saa, hayaku okite kudasai ' to itta

she looks out of the window
お母さん窓から外をながめている
okaasan wa mado kara soto o nagamete iru

"The sun is out and there is no school" she says "you will want to go out in the sun"
「今日天気はいいだし学校もいないし。じゃ、確かに外に遊びに行きたがってくるよ」といった
' kyou tenki wa ii da shi gakkou mo inai shi. ja, tashika ni soto ni asobi ni ikitagatte kuru yo ' to itta

Peter jumps out of bed. "Good," he says."No school and the sun is out."
憲次はベッドからとびだして「いい天気だし学校もいないし」といった
kenji wa beddo kara tobidashite ' ii tenki da shi gakkou mo inai shi ' to itta

He looks out of the window.
憲次は窓から外を見つめて
kenji wa mado kara soto wo mitsume te

”I see Pat and Dad down there" He says. “They are out in the sun“
「亮太トパパは見える。もう外に行っていた」と言った
' ryouta to papa wa mieru. mou soto ni itte ita ' to itta

“Is Jane up, Mum?” says Peter
「楓はおきたか」憲次は母に聞い
' kaede wa oki ta ka ' kenji wa haha ni kiita

”No she's not” says Mum. “I’ll go and get her up”
母は「家、まだ。起こしに行ってくるよ」と言った
haha wa ' ie, mada. okoshi ni itte kuru yo ' to itta

I've changed Jane's name to Kaede and the dog's(Pat's) name to Ryouta

kaede ha mado kara soto o nagame te ' kenji to inu ga asoko ni iru no o mieru ' to itta

Peter looks up at the window. He sees his sister.
憲次は窓を向いて妹が見える
kenji ha mado o mui te imouto ga mieru

”Come on down, Jane" he says " We're all up. It’s good to be out in the sun. We must go out soon.”
憲次は「ほら、こっちにきて。みな目を覚ましていた。外に出てくるのはいいだ。そろそろ行かなければならない」と言った
kenji ha ' hora, kocchi ni ki te. mina me o samashi te i ta. soto ni de te kuru no ha ii da. sorosoro ika nakere ba nara nai ' to itta

how to said "i being woke up because of your call ?" domo.

mumeichan I think you should consistently use 'wa' for は and not 'ha' coz its used as a grammatical particle. Obviously your japanese is much better than mine , but I just thought that it could be confusing for beginners.


BTW, anyone know where I can get Genki books other than online? Kinokuniya doesn't seem to have them

Hmm. I am quite sure I have seen this book sold in Malaysia before and I'm quite sure i saw it at Kinokuniya cause that's the only place where I look at books. However if they have none in stock, you can ask Kino to order it for you. Just give them the Title, author and ISBN no. for the book.

I highly recommend Genki books for studying Japanese. It's used by my University too.

Thanks for pointing out the 'wa' issue. Haha I was using a kanji-romaji converter and was lazy to change it to wa...

Wow mumeichan, your japanese so good. Mind to chit chat Japanese with me? i need to speak more with anyone, current study Level 2, but still unable to use to speak properly & mix up with combination english >.<

My Japanese is still very bad. I've still a lot to learn. I'm only done with 1st year Japanese in uni with a little self study. Truthfully, my translations my not be exactly how the Japanese express them. Have to go back to school and chat with my lecturer to learn more. It's be great to study Japanese together, we could email each other in Japanese. I think your Japanese is much more advance then mine if you mean you're at JLPT Level 2 already.
