--- ADSL Line Status
Status : OPERATIONAL (1)
SnrMgn (dB) : 7
Attenuation (dB) : 58
PSDM (-dBm) : 38
ALARMS : No Defect
ADSL Framing Mode : 3
DS TxRate (kbps) :1856 US TxRate (kbps) : 608
CrcBlockLength : 59 CrcBlockLength : 20
Symbol/Codeword : 1 Symbol/Codeword : 1
CheckBytes : 0 CheckBytes : 0
Intl Delay (ms) : 0 Intl Delay (ms) : 0
ES Count : 799
ReceivedBlks : 7324005
TransmittedBlks : 7324005
CorrectedBlks : 0
UncorrectedBlks : 140829

My SNR is pretty low, 6dB. Last time I used to get 23dB, so I'm not sure what happened... Regardless of what my DS/US TxRate is, I never get anything above 60KiB/s down and 25KiB/s up.

But I have been facing lots and lots of disconnections the past few days...

Anyone know what the PSDM, CrcBlockLength, Symbol/Codeword, Checkbytes etc etc mean?

for me, before this my SNR margin was around 28-30db with the line speed of 512kbps/256kbps till recently when they upgrade my line speed to 3072/896 and reducing my SNR margin to 13db, so its obviously not the problem at my house line right? problem at DSLAM?

I have to call more than 4 times just to get them to open a report. I have told them that my SNR margin is too low and line attenuation is too high, it seems like they don't understand what it is. Just keep on asking me to troubleshot this and that.

Hi,

Would like to know whether the low SNR margin is caused by the poor line quality and thus lead to frequent line drops? So far only one or two helpdesk assistants understood what I meant by low SNR margin. however, the quality has not been improved despite numerous reports made.

Do I need to call the technician from TMNet technician to come over to check the line and bypass the Streamyx call centre? And would it be any problem relevant to my modem? THere is no problem at all when i use my old USB modem but when using the ethernet modem, the line drops frequently and the d/l speed is very poor.

thank you.

The quality of the phone line is also a factor for the SNR margin. Maybe you can call TM (100) and ask them to change your phone line.

I'm wondering whether this drop of SNR is causing more disconnection problems... I have kept a log of my streamyx connections since last july, and here is a graph of the connection status since october... and you can see the large amount of disconnections... Is that when they started uncapping the lines and the SNR decreased?

My upload SNR is also higher than download SNR. Your SNR seems fine. Can't say excellent but satisfactory.

What the heck??? shakehead.gif What is that SNR margin? And btw, your attenuation is quite high.

I am connected to streamyx throught fiber optic but I never see such thing happening to my connection.

And I was laughing by myself at the computer when I read this. I wonder if someone thought that I lost my mind. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

How about SNR Never over 6-7dB ? I can online in the morning (quite stable). but at night ,the SNR drop to 0 every few minutes ( mean dc every few minutes).

Morning can online, after 7pm cannot. The SNR Up and down so frequent.

Ask TM to come down and check your physical phones lines.
