Did you install filter/splitter for every telephone in your house that is connected to the same number as Streamyx ? If yes, then should be TM's cable problem...

no, i didn't install splitter for all phones.
i'm using two phones at home(both same line with the one for streamyx), one in the living room, the other in the bed room. i don't hear noisy noises when i'm using the phone, so i assume i don't need the splitter for the other phones?

Its better to install filter/splitter because there is some noise below your hearing level.

i see... but i thought installing more splitters will slow down the dsl line? wouldn't it?
how would it help with the connection other than reducing the noise level?

I noticed i have very frequent disconnection especially at nite. Then i checked my SNR and so. was shocked to see this.

I used to have SNR above 30, sometimes 40. Restarted router, same. Changed router, same. What is the cause of this problem? My friend suggested that it's possible that the phone line has been struck my lightning. So my only hope now is to pester tmnut everyday?

godhpf, if the line has been struck by lightning it won't be permanent. So does this happen when it isn't raining or just rained because I am suspecting a faulty copper wire.

ahhuat, your SNR Margin seems ok which shouldn't have so many disconnection in an hour. Perhaps you can try borrowing a friend's modem to try first and if the same happens, best to call TMNet Customer Service.

it happens periodically(every 30 mins to one hour, it will drop to below 5db for sometime then it goes up to 8db. then the process repeats) and it gets worse when it's raining or after it rained. it gets worse in the night.

Copper wire? the copper wire to the phone socket/wall outlet?

Then I suspect it really is a faulty copper wire. No not the wire that connects your modem to the socket, the copper wire on the poles outside your house.
