QUOTE(riku2replica @ May 12 2012, 08:38 AM) Credit to GenTechPC for ripping apart G55VW. The mSata Port is not easy to access. Over on the ROG forums they said it voids your warranty as well, but obviously the hdd and ram slots don't. so if i want to put an SSD inside, i have to ask Asus to do it? since it'll void the warranty |

According to GenTechPC, this below serves as instruction to access the Wifi-Card and mSata in G55VW.
QUOTE Yeah it's quite a lot of works to access mSATA slot and even the wireless card: In other words, ur basically ripping apart ur laptop. First, you need need to disconnect the hard drive and remove about 1,000 screws from the bottom, and then remove the hinge cover and the screen, disconnect all the cables and remove the top case just to access the wireless card: And then remove all the screws on the mainboard and turn the mainboard over to access the mSATA slot. And Another note, Since G55VW GTX 660M is soldered on board, anything on the motherboard spoil/GPU fried case, u'll have to replace the whole mainboard. |

I just came back from Gurney Plaza & managed to talked to a GadjetZone Techie there.
Currently, they have the G55, but not on display as their boss trying to push the G53 out first. Looks like we can only see it after we pay for it? grr. So now I've got a couple of questions that I'd appreciate you guys helping out with. I'm planning on getting a non 3D G55 for work. 1. Any idea which shop to get it from? I'd prefer to view the unit first before buying, or else, I'd get it from exoticpc in the states. Also, I need to get a receipt of some sort so I can claim from my boss. 2. I believe that the onboard RAM is 1600MHz, If I were to add RAM, where can I get 1600Mhz RAM in Penang, & how much should I add? another 4Gb or another 12Gb? 3. What are the freebies that I could expect bundled with the G55? According to the Gadjetzone Techie, there were no freebies, no bag, no mouse, ect. 4. According to the Gadjetzone Techie, any upgrading of RAM or adding in a SSD to speed up the boot up would have to be done at the Asus Service Center. If so, how do they guaranty that they don't screw up the machine? Already heard many horror stories on the service center ppl fixing one problem but breaking something else. Thanks, |

Guys...
For the price of the G55VW, does it comes with a SSD on board? Cause here in Australia, it's $1988... but it has dual HDD with a 128gb SSD... http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=3938 Should I wait till I get back to M'sia to purchase mine or the price is alright to get it here? Thanks in advance |

& finally the official specs & price. http://event.asus.com/my/2012/productguide/PG_May_June.pdf shown on pg.13. Does anyone else notice that some of the information, for the quality survey is outdated by 3 years? Survey was done in 2009. (shown on pg. 5) |
