Kuala Lumpur, 6 June 2011 – Sunrise Berhad is pleased to announce that MK20 won three awards at the prestigious Asia Pacific Property Awards 2011 in association with Bloomberg Television. This latest offering by the quality developer captured the Best Commercial High Rise Development Award for Asia Pacific and Malaysia, as well as the Mixed Use Architecture (Highly Commended) Award for Malaysia.
Located along the main Jalan Kiara, this mixed-use development integrates the quad-components of luxury serviced residence, hotel, SoHo and boutique retail, creating a single destination where the vibrancy of urban living and the tranquility of exclusive abode culminate.
“This achievement reflects the strength of the Sunrise brand name and the quality of our diverse range of market-driven products. We constantly challenge ourselves to make a difference. While each new project has to stand out, it also has to meet the expectation of the market,” said Lum Tuck Ming, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Sunrise Berhad.
Conceptualised and designed by world renowned architectural practice Foster+Partners, MK20's intriguing typology is a contemporary expression of space and an alternative to the predicable tower solutions where privacy is assured, yet natural light, views and external space are optimised.
Meticulously crafted in two parallel terrace blocks of 18- and 36-storeys, the comparatively low-rise provides a lateral counterpoint to the nearby towers. Linking the two wings is a generous central plaza with walled gardens and landscaped courtyard, where the retail activities flourish.
The upper and lower plazas are encircled by signature restaurants, cafes and boutique shopping, while maintaining a visual connection with the luxury serviced residence, SoHo and hotel above.
The tower features serviced residence and SoHo pools overlooking the retail world beneath, while the hotel sky pool privileges a view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, tennis court and multipurpose hall facility cum badminton courts, games room and children’s playground.
Later this year, top scoring MK20 will compete against other winning projects from Europe, Africa, the Americas and Arabia to find the ultimate World’s Best. A record number of 21 different countries took part in the Asia Pacific Awards this year. These awards are part of the International Property Awards which was established 17 years ago, comprising residential and commercial categories.
Sunrise’s 28 Mont’Kiara won the World’s Best Residential High Rise Development Award in 2010. The Asia Pacific region has an enviable record of achievement at international level, having scooped seven World’s Best awards in the finals of both 2009 and 2010.
