you can try using /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app

select the disk, right click then select the 'First Aid' option

bad sector repair?i tot it isn't possible to repair bad sector, just that the software will avoid writing data on the bad sector. the longer u use the hdd, the bad sector will increase and ur disk space will become smaller and smaller... sad.gif

first, you need to load them full with data to really 'scan'. I have tried many many times scanning without problem without data.

What formats define "most" of your movies?
I use quicktime with perian for almost everything except rmvb and wmv.

try VLC (free download at www.videolan.org) ... plays almost everything.

if you need Quicktime support (iMovie / Keynote) then try out Perian (also free to download)

Are you using Snow Leopard?
That's odd. Quicktime should be able to play these (mpeg 2, mpeg 4, h.264) natively. In SL even finder can preview these movies.
If you are using SL, flip4mac (during leopard's time) doesn't work. U need the beta version for SL. I'd suggest using VLC for your WMV stuff.

Hi all...

Just want to ask: Does reinstall iTunes will remove all the songs and mp4 from the previous one?

Recently, i had run something for the dvd drive and it affect iTunes. There's a message telling me to reinstall iTunes. I'm afraid that by reinstall iTunes, all the videos and songs in the current one will be deleted.

Hope anyone can help. icon_question.gif
