IIRC, Standard HT bus frequency is 800MHz (FSB x 4, mostly with Nvidia NForce 4 4x revision A2 or older) and 1000MHz (FSB x 5, with other NForce or VIA K8 chipsets).

The 1600/2000 actually refers to MillionTransfers per second.

For mobo with max 4x FSB HT bus frequency, it's 1600MT/s, and for 5x mobo, it's 2000MT/s.

Socket 745 proc only support 800MHz/1000MHz HT at 1600MT/s, but the newer 939/AM2 can support 2000MT/s with 1000MHz HT.

P/S: Thanks Kmarc for noticing my error.

Not true. My K8N Neo2 platinum is an Nforce 3 ultra which runs at 1000 Mhz!

The upcoming HT3 is going to 4GHz. shocking.gif I wonder how much improvement it'll be.

Intel with Nahalem platform will use HTT like technology by then there is no FSB, just like they eliminate BSB(Back Side Bus) on Pentium II.

I don't know.. they did say the world was moving from bus to point-to-point. The display connection just moved from point -to-point (AGP) to bus (PCIE).

Point-to-point and bus are mutually exclusive. I don't see how it can be a "point-to-point bus".

Can't say i wasn't expecting that link. This explains it better than I can too:
http://chronicle.com/wiredcampus/article/1...of-his-creation

In any case, the definition of "bus" has been blurred these days, with a lot of people misusing the term. I have not seen the PCI-sig group referring to PCI-E as a bus, while they clearly refer to PCI as a bus. I would call PCI-E a point-to-point interface. A strictly defined bus is something that enables 2 or more devices to communicate with each other on a single set of wires. Only one device can talk on the bus at any one time, the others either listen or wait. Point-to-point interconnects have a switch fabric that allows devices to talk to each other directly.

additional voltage usually are not necessary ( mobo dependent )
which ***MHz you're refering to ?

Does recent TLB bug effects HT3? Or just some kind or L3 cache bug?
