@CuriOu5 -
we don't know of any special problems with Galaxy Ace.
Are you sure you don't have anything else colliding with Viber?

@onscreen -
Well, it is YOUR job to get more friends to use Viber wink.gif
Please explain what you mean with your threaded messages requesT)

just sharing some stats based on my own experience.

phone: samsung galaxy s2. not rooted and running stock/ original Samsung ROM

at almost new condition (meaning not many apps installed and definitely dun have any apps with background services running), the idle discharge rate was about 1% for every 35 mins.

after installing more apps...
background process: tweetdeck + Google reader refreshing every 15 mins; Skype, whatsapp and Viber installed. whatsapp was not running in background while i intentionally had viber running (icon on notification bar). skype, even when it was not turned on, it was actually running in the background -- that's why in the next set of data, i uninstalled skype -- i dun like apps that starts automatically, its so malware-like... idle discharge rate at this setting was at about 1% every 15 mins.

after un-installing skype (while the other things remained just about the same), idle discharge rate was at about 1% every 20 mins. this was about the same for viber version before and after the exit button. ya, no significant change for me.

overall, my phone's idle discharge rate is at about 1% every 20-30mins.

as you can see... viber running (before and after the exit button) didn't really affect my discharge rate.

just wondering... how much more? and how you 'felt' it?

current version of viber, as i understand it, does not even run (after you hit the exit button) until you get a message/ call...

well yes it is... but i do not exit the app...

well for 3G network normally it will last till around 3pm to reach 25%...
but with viber on it last till 1pm reaches 25% already...
for edge/gsm it will last till 5~6pm before it reaches 25%...
with viber on i think it reach around 3pm only...
(that is in average) my worst case with viber on 3G network is b4 12pm my battery drop below 30% already...

i'm using Desire Z from Maxis
with custom Kernal OC to 1.5GHz (max) (2.6.35.13-virtuous-sense-v3.1.0), currently OC to 1.2Ghz (On Demand), screen sleep back to normal 800Mhz...
ROM is most current Rooted Gingerbread ROM (Build 2.42.405, Virtuous V2.0)) from HTC customised by Virtuous group...
Baseband is 12.28e.60.140fu.....

yea now i need to exit after i use it... but no such problem with whatsapp... i'm willing to pay few ringgit and get back my battery life... btw that few ringgit just enough for you to have a light breakfast now... so no need to say it is free or not... is like you pay RM1 for a normal roti canai and paying RM2 for a higher class one and also taste better which you would prefer???

seriously dont compare these two apps... viber can call... whatsapp cannot... and whatsapp is not that good... i have apps which consume same amount of battery life... even faster messaging response.. and can do everything whatsapp can do.. do not need to exit also... and it's free... if you pay RM1 for a roti canai... and i dont have to pay any to have a higer class one.. which one would you prefer then??

besides.. i dont exit my viber... i dont see any drain...

Looks promising. Installed it before but nobody was using it. Just installed it yesterday and a few friends already using it. Too bad doesn't support other OS such as BB and Windows yet.

Viber works great with CM7.03 HTC Legend. The stability is top notch compared to Whatsapp. Hoping that there are more users aware of Viber existance.

Any chance to have the messages being listed as threaded instead of single message to and from a same contact?

Works well with Legend stock 2.2 firmware too!

When I press the "Message" icon on the standard key pad and then press "Viber" on the "Complete action using" pop up screen, the force close message appeared (see attachment).

@d3m0n - Viber for new platforms is being developed these days: Viber for Blackberry is coming soon, and even Viber for PC/Mac is being developed. In the future, we plan to expand to more and more platforms, like Symbian and WP7.

@CuriOu5 - thank you for the information and the screenshots. At first you said Viber will force close immediately after install it (so you couldn't use it at all). Has this changed now? How?
Also - about the new problem you described now, can you please try to elaborate on the exact steps by which we can recreate this bug? Start from the beginning, step-by-step, so we can test it here in our labs.

@ryuzaki_L - it's a standard feature of many apps (for example - WhatsApp) that imports your contacts from Android's main app, and uses them in order to find other friends of yours who already have Viber (or will install it in the future).

@hxcpride - About the galaxy-galaxy calls: make sure both of you are using high-speed WiFi networks, and if you are, try using a different WiFi connection (both of you) in order to isolate the problem.
About Wildfire: unfortunately you are right (and we explicitly wrote that in our website). Wildfire is not 100% supported, and due to obsolete technologies it uses, Viber calls may be disrupted on it sad.gif

Dear Viber,

Are you like, working for Viber? If yes, then you definitely need to support all the major OS ASAP. Most important right now is for BB, and then WP7 as it is catching on. Anyways, very good app you have here. And you should put a shoutout box or recommendation box on your site so people can drop their ideas on how to make the app better. Cheers bro.

yes... agree. need to really rush your dev team on the apps for BB. with viber on the three major platforms at the moment (ios, android and bb), most of our contacts will already be reachable. as much as i dun like it... i guess wp7 also needs to be supported eventually... smile.gif

but ya... windows/ pc version would be excellent too... i guess that would mean a version for tablets as well, right?! wink.gif

As I wrote above, the Blackberry version is in the works this very moment. We don't have an official release date yet, but it's definitely getting closer and closer. Viber for PC/Mac is also being discussed right now, and will probably be our next goal.

Viber for WP7 and Symbian is also certainly planned, but that's probably still far away.

Viber for Tablets is also in the works right now, and will hopefully be released soon to Market.
