I recorded about an hour of a talk in a large hall with the built-in mic with recording quality set at High, 44.1KHz, 128Kbps, Stereo (this is the default setting). I was seated 15-20 feet away from the nearest speaker in the room and just set the player down beside me. The sound was quite clear. thumbup.gif
There are two higher recording settings (160Kbps and 192Kbps) which may give better quality sound, but the default setting was clear enough for me. By the way, it records directly in MP3 format only.
