I just bought a Viera P42U30K FHD Plasma today. When i get back home, i switched it on and there a obvious marks on my tv, like numbers, date, and some picture...its like a burn in but i havent used my tv yet..and one more thing, if i turn on the menu and use it for a couple of seconds..it also leaves a mark...It leaves a very bad marks..

What happened to my tv..is my tv defective??

Can u confirm that it is a new set and not a demo unit? U can check in service menu but if u r not careful and do not know how to do it, get someone who knows how.

Pls change ur mode from dynamic mode and select cinema mode or true cinema mode. Reduce contrast temporarily to below 30 for a start.

I would suggest for a start, google evangelo's break in slides and run them for a bit and see if the IR reduces.

I have played with the 2011 panasonics (VT series) and found that the IR is much much better than last years sets, so I am not sure why u r seeing this. If u r based in the northern region, PM and I can see if I can help u.

thanks for the reply..the sales person said it is a new set but i doubt it..the images i m seeing is kinda like cctv image or something..what should i do..i am using true cinema mode..and my IR is very99 bad..just 1 minute is enough to get an IR..sigh~~

Hi, I also have the same TV. Been using it close to a month and I haven't experienced any bad IR.

Maybe you have a defective unit. Try calling Panasonic at 0355437600 and get them to check it out. I had a problem with another TV (p42x20k) and they were very quick to resolve it.

Yup, I checked the service menu and there is about 600 minutes of usage..well..ill just go and ask for a new set tomorrow~

Thats about 10 hours, was that your usage, thus far?

Inform the shop you are not satisfied with the new TV's performance. See what they have to say, if nego process with them start, immediately write and call pana HQ.

no, i just used for about 1 to 2 hours..its installed at 6 pm today~

U sure it said 600mins. The Pannys normally show in hrs and mins.

Just let them know that they gave u a display set and ask them to change it to a brand new set. They normally will change when u r clear abt ur facts.

so today i went to the shop. the tauke wouldnt even listen to what i had to say. he even chased me out of the shop. so i called the police and after a very long discussion the tauke agreed to give back my money. Crazy guy, he didnt even listen to my explanation and said i was picky and such...stupid~
