81/85 is USUALLY the most common configuration.
There is also 81/60 which is popular too........
But according to the website, the 89 is closer to the 85, but able to coil tap. The 81TW is the 81 but with coil tap.

ristikol, isn't the 89 a 85 with a push/pull for a single coil rather then an 85/60?

And a push/Pull switch means you have to install a new Push/Pull controller knob or switch on your guitar....... and if it's a switch, means you have to drill a new hole in your baby tongue.gif

sorry to all.forgot to mention.
89 actually combination for 85(humbucker),60(single coil).
so,u can switch 81/85 or 81/60.
blacktrix,u no need to drill hole in ur baby tongue.gif
just install at volume controller knob.very easy.push/pull at volume knob.
evalshtog, 81/89 per set totally expensive.new one almost rm900.ask woh fatt or bentley for info.but i think now they no have stock.
try buy at e-gay tongue.gif
but i'm bought 2nd from my member last week.so,it's very cheap brows.gif
if u swtich 81/60,soloing very superb.the sound..fuhhhhh............like michael angelo batio and yngwie malmsteen notworthy.gif
if u arpeggios, the sound very clear.u can hear note per note.
and also plucking,fuh..fat sound
60 is single coil,so thats why the sound very nice.

Ristikol, have to correct you there..... the EMG60 is a humbucking pickup:

http://www.emgpickups.com/displayproducts....6&catalogid=173

Quote from EMG themselves:

QUOTE
While the EMG-60 still features the close aperture coils loaded with ceramic magnets for the brightest attack of any of our many humbucking models, this pickup also packs plenty of output with both clarity and cut through high end. The EMG-60 is incredible for rhythm guitar as metal and extreme players have discovered. James Hetfield's signature ESP models use EMG-60's because their distinctive crunch sets any rhythm player apart in the mix of a band that pumps a lot of mid-range from the stage.

And when I meant you have to drill a hole, I meant if you install a mini-toggle switch.

The EMG89 is a single coil AND a dual coil pickup. It sounds similar to the 85, but with the ability to switch to a single coil version like the SA single coil pickups.

http://www.emgpickups.com/displayproducts....d=6&catalogid=6

From EMG's website:

QUOTE
Inside the EMG-89 pickup are both single and dual-coil pickups, each with its own output. The single-coil mode is an Alnico loaded stacked EMG-SA. The dual-coil mode consists of two Alnico loaded coils opposite one another creating a pickup similar to the EMG-85. A push/pull volume or tone enables you to switch from the clarity of a single-coil to the fatness of a humbucking. Virtually noiseless in both modes, it can also be used with several EMG accessories such as the SPC, EXG expander, or the PA2 preamp booster.
