There is one thing you need to change but impossible in, not only console crouch but the whole lowyat forum, is humanity.

People flame too much, that's the problem. A single mistake, old question will be flamed by users, and they're not helping (maybe sometimes but rare). Do you think people will ever post again by knowing the result?
'Check other topic lah' 'wrong post man' 'you want to get banned?'
This is what you get.

A good example will be:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/461522
What’s wrong with people sharing a website that he/she find helpful? And yet the flaming? Pretty ignorant.

Also, the management. A repeat post or old questions will be closed by admins. I know you guys will give excuses like ‘same topic/question will make the forum boring’. Please, take a look at forums in HK, China, Gamespot. Look at how they manage things and how people reply/give compliments on each post. Learn from them.

Yeah, flame me if you want, I don’t care. It only shows that you don’t want any improvements. I'm off, good luck.

Thanks for the feedback, it will be take into consideration.

About the flaming part of that play-asia thing, i have no comment about it and by the time i woke up (uk timezone) i closed the thread to prevent further spamming & flaming.

I believe that has never happen before, i only close topic if it has an official thread for it. This is to prevent 20+ threads of "how do i-xxx", thus killing off other topic.
If you post the news over & over again in the appropriate thread (without intention), of course it will stay there and never get deleted.

The difference between forum like Gamespot and ours are, we are cater to Malaysian only and hopefully with that management we can bring the user closer together. (alot of them become friends)

Again, this is the management "transparency" of xbox subforum. If you have any more doubt, don't hesitate to ask smile.gif

if we allow redundant threads like that to exist, we will have good/informative threads pushed down and forgotten. also, it makes the poster thinks before he posts. There are tonnes of pinned topic, we might as well have no pinned topics like that. and this is the internet, only the smart survives.

To eleminate those redundant threads, we have to keep those info they're looking for in the right place.

A suggestable solution would to create a thread called "READ ME FIRST BEFORE POSTING"(in CC, Sony, Nintendo, and Xbox), and in this thread here would be links to all the appropriate threads, example below.

I've seen this format being applied to other forums, makes it easy for first-timers(to console couch) to navigate around the forum.

If the questions are asked again, don't tell "search it fool!", kindly remind them that there's a VERY HELPFUL topic made there just for people like you.

No? Yes? Considerable.

They can post all they want. Its jst a matter of hitting the correct audience. And we do not need to click on them if we don't want to.

They will get lost in the amount of stuff going on in Garage Sales.

Can we consolidate these three threads into one?

PSP Community
Playstation Portable For Beginners
PSP 2000 Discussion Thread

All three were started for different purposes but nowadays almost all the talk in these is on custom firmwares and how to play downloaded games, despite repeated warnings by the TS and mods. Do we really need three seperate threads bending the rules at the same time?

With shops/freelancers offering a year of free downloads with the purchase of a PSP, there is little chance for the original market to survive as it is...

^ the psp is a lost cause. even in other countries gaming boards, its difficult to find psp sections which are 100% supportive of buying UMDs.

just close one eye, and pretend to un-see things you do not want to see tongue.gif

look at it at another angle and you see the small community of PS3 owners growing. so, the playstation subforum kind of balances itself out icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, those three threads are essentially a CFW thread and should be consolidated.

OTOH...
I don't think PSP is a lost cause yet, except maybe in countries like us, which is why Sony is selling the system in their stores but the softwares lineup is pathetic or not even sold!
Discussion of any PSP game is impossible here as well when people are already playing it on the day the game is out while I am still fighting if I should buy it!! But luckily Square and some biggies are still making games for PSP, and the hardware is selling 90K+ weekly in Japan, so we should still have plenty of games this year.

Please pin these 2 threads as well. Too much duplicate threads about people who can't make his/ her mind. doh.gif

Next Gen Console: PS3 vs XBOX 360 vs. Wii
Handheld War: PSP vs. NDS

Just a thought, if a seller wish to sell a particular console/ Handhend. He/ she should also indicate that they sell ori games for that particular console as well. No point selling consoles without selling games, unless...... whistling.gif They can lie, but they'll get bad rep if anyone finds up.

Just my 2 arcade tokens......

I wanted to do that, but the problem is that those two threads are(will be) underutilized.

People just seem to want to have their own personal thread for inquiries rather than use an existing one.

I think maybe we need someone expert and neutrally to create a thread to guide the newbie how to choice a console which is suite for them.

That's a great idea. Would love to merge it with the readme first. Someone come with a write-up, or I'll do it myself.

Just bumping this old idea.

Maybe we create a thread called "How to select your console of choice" and sticky it up there with the readme and stuff. Get 3 hardworking people, from all the console couch subforum to create this FAQ/Readme.

Maybe we could have a simple format:
QUOTE
[The Console]

[The Do's and Don't]

[Why should you buy it?]

[Etc. info]
