Guys, I'm in need of some help here. My Q6600 on stock cooling on EP35C-DS3R achieve around 48'C at idle at 65'C at load under Prime95 at  stock speed. I'm thinking that it's too hot.... Is it? How can I improve the situatioN? I'm still waiting for my cpu cooler to arrive maybe in a week time.... I dun even dare to OC seeing such condition.... Is there any possiblity that I'm not mounting the stock fan correctly? I had some difficulties mounting the stock fan and I remount it after clipping it to the place.... I remove the whole stock fan and put it back... Will this be a problem? Btw I'm using Lian-Li PC007 and i had those temperatures with my side panel opened

nah dude thats cause of intel stock cooler thermal paste..

its not good and its too thick
if ures is a G0 which normalyl it is nowadays
get a thermal paste and reapply.. ( check the thermal paste guides..etc.. on how much too put.. which is very little actually )
and should be no worries after that

also good airflow with no cable clutters to block the airflow from the front to the back of the casing will improve
opening the side of the case with cable clutters will not make a difference

Locked SATA ports means that the ports will not be overclocked when you overclock you mobo/CPU/rig....

If the SATA port is not locked, you will get corrupted data when you overclock your rig...

You can either check your mobo's manual or google it on the net....

For example, I was previously using a MSI K8N Neo2 mobo which had locked SATA ports 3 & 4..... so I just plug my harddisk into those ports, rather than ports 1 & 2.....

Ater that, i make sure my system performance in auto mode. im not professional. then, i changed CPU FSB Clock, step by step. Save & Exit and restart my pc. when my pc restart with no problem, then i increased the CPU FSB Clock until max.i monitor my cpu heat also. no overheart.

FSB frequency: 400
PCI-E Frequency: 100
DRAM: DDR2 800MHz
Dram Command: 2
dram timing: Auto 5-5-5-18-3-42-6-3-3
Dram static Enabled

the ram speed will be too high on CAS 4 if u put it to multi 2.4....dont think the 4gb kit will be able do so high on CL4... try with CAS 5 thumbup.gif

btw, always tune from low speed to high speed slowly ba....like that u ma can know how far ur max speeds is with certain voltage lo...ur gigabyte got OC software to use in window ma thumbup.gif

system memory multiplier is the divider of ur proc:ram speed

2.0 is 1:1 ratio....

did u add vcore?

n to find max mem speed...u can do so by reducing ur proc multiplier so ur clock wont be so high on high fsb...
